ORIGINAL: brainiacsub You are again misquided and have no idea what atheists think. Every serious student of political science knows that the US Constitution's origins are derived in form and content from the first colonial charters and compacts including the one you mention, the Mayflower Compact, Fundamental Orders of Connecticut, Rhode Island Charter (1663), Connecticut Code of Laws (1650), Puritan Laws and Liberties (1658), the Articles of Confederation, etc., etc. These documents are secularized political compacts which later were incorporated into state constitutions and bill of rights and all have roots in radical Protestant interpretations of Judeo-Christian contracts and covenants, which date back to Biblical times, such as the covenant God made with Abraham in the old Testament. That is not the same thing as saying our laws are based on Christianity. Funny how atheists know this but Christians do not. well its sort of larger than that too actually. The greatest majority of it stems from the magna charta on steroids which has its basis in common law which has its basis on the unwritten law which was for all intents and purposes of the people who were guided by the christianity of one flavor or another. It is inseparable. That and while you agree and disagree with me at the same time in the same sentence no less, you provided no background for the distinction between atheist and christian origins aside from itemizing several documents who have the same christian origin as the one I posted. So you sort of did a full circle and came back to agree with me.
