Actually the perfect solution is to do away with fossil fuels completely. Considering that the diesel engine was originally designed to run on vegetable oil....

What about the smell of stupidity? Because the OP reeks of it. I'm surprised you can smell the testosterone over the stench of his stupidity. [:'(]

Is it possibly the rank and utter stupidty of someone who openly admits not reading the linked article in one post and then later isnists that it was that article you were complianing about? Do you really think we're all as completely imbecilic as you are?

I gave you an out, you chose not to tajke it. From now on you are fair game. I expect you're going to get very very tired of this.

There are a lot of conversion kits that do the same, especially for RV's, but then you drive down the road smelling like the deep-fryer at McDonald's.

You're a moron, plain and simple. But you're common. You are what's wrong with this country. Know that. And I never tired of making fun of the stupid.

You didn't mention the OP. I did. It doesn't matter who you meant. You mentioned one smell, I mentioned another, more pungent smell.

I think his was also a fast reply. He was just so anxious to slam Ken that he forgot to mark it fr. You know, kinda like when a kid learns a new swear word and can't wait to get out to the playground and share it with his buddies. I wonder if he realizes how his insults make him look?

No worse than the OP's rampant denial and idiocy makes him look. Here's where it gets funny though -- he's the only one who cares about how he looks. I don't. Check my profile....oops. You can't. Check his. He has a name, a rep and a presence. I do not. I'm a 4-letter and 2-digit screen name on these boards. The sheer fact that I can take him and manipulate how he acts in a thread is hilarious to me.

That's even better, you admit to being an intentional troll as well as a liar.

I've admitted nothing, and you're an idiot.

After 3 pages of this, you still cannot point to the lie I told.

That makes you the liar. Though considering the posts and threads I've seen from you in the past, I'm not surprised, liar.

A shrink would call what you do 'projecting.' You're calling me a liar because deep down, you know that you are...even though you won't admit it.

Uhmmmm Ken, I think we've all known Loki as a troll for ages.  Why waste your energy?

Its sick and wrong to make fuel out of food when you can simply drill for fuel and while people are going hungry.

Corn Farmers Smile as Ethanol Prices Rise, but Experts on Food Supplies Worry

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa, Jan. 11 - Early every winter here, farmers make their best guesses about how much food the world will demand in the coming year, and then decide how many acres of corn to plant, and how many of soybeans.

But this year is different. Now it is not just the demand for food that is driving the decision, it is also the demand for ethanol, the fuel that is made from corn.

Some states are requiring that ethanol be blended in small amounts with gasoline to comply with anti-pollution laws. High oil prices are dragging corn prices up with them, as the value of ethanol is pushed up by the value of the fuel it replaces.

"We're leaning more toward corn," said Garold Den Herder, a farmer who cultivates 2,400 acres in a combination of corn and soybeans and is on the board of directors of the Siouxland Energy and Livestock Cooperative, which opened an ethanol plant here in late 2001. Last year a bushel was selling for about $2 here, but near the plant it was about 10 cents higher.

Farmers expect it to go higher soon if oil prices stay high. Ethanol was up to $1.75 a gallon, last year, from just over $1 the year before.

The rising corn prices may be good news for farmers, but they are worrying some food planners.

"We're putting the supermarket in competition with the corner filling station for the output of the farm," said Lester R. Brown, an agriculture expert in Washington, D.C., and president of the Earth Policy Institute. Farms cannot feed all the world's people and its motor vehicles as well, Mr. Brown said, and the result is that more people will go hungry.

I wonder how the government paying landowners not to grow food fits into the "more people growing hungry" equation.

I'm in complete agreement. We have the technological means to do this. Only our economic structure stands in the way.

Good catch, I hadn't noticed the date. However, the facts related by the article are even more in play today:

Meat prices seen rising on demand, lower supply

U.S. meat prices may rise to records this summer after farmers reduced hog and cattle herds to the smallest sizes in decades, the result of surging feed costs linked to demands for more ethanol.

CHICAGO — U.S. meat prices may rise to records this summer after farmers reduced hog and cattle herds to the smallest sizes in decades, the result of surging feed costs linked to demands for more ethanol.

Wholesale pork jumped as much as 25 percent this month to 90.68 cents a pound last week, the highest since August 2008, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data show. Beef climbed 22 percent this year to $1.6896 a pound on April 23, the most expensive since July 2008. Chicken's gain in March was the most in 20 months.

Demand for pork chops, steaks and chicken breasts is rising as the economy improves, backyard barbecues resume and China and Russia allow more U.S. imports. Domestic supplies may drop to a 13-year low because of culls to stem losses caused by corn prices that doubled after former President George W. Bush set targets to increase ethanol use.

"Ethanol-induced prices in meat are just now getting to the marketplace," said Steve Meyer, the president of Paragon Economics, a meat-industry consultant in Des Moines, Iowa. "Consumers are going to see the highest prices they've ever paid in meat and poultry because of the decisions made to make corn into ethanol."

look at the 2yr, 5yr and 10yr.

http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/usda/current/GraiStoc/GraiStoc-03-31-2010.txt
You will see that corn stocks are climbing.

The fuel inputs, fertilizer, herbicides and fear speculation are bigger drivers than ethanol, since ethanol production is a servant of big oil, and big oil will set the price that it pays, and there isn't much you can do about it.  In fact, around here the smaller ethanol cooperatives are going out of business.

Anyway, just jumped in here to address the fact that the well is leaking...alot.
