I'm still undecided on the whole federal ID thing. I already have a drivers license, my SS card, a Firearm Owners ID card, my car insurance card and my health insurance card. What's one more card in my wallet? On the other hand, it seems like such a Big Brother kind of thing.

It seems to me that before we go and create another sub-branch of government that we should secure the borders and aggresively go after the companies who hire illegal aliens. People come here for work and will do it for a lot less than the current US minimum wage. And they aren't just picking lettuce, mowing your lawn, and cleaning your house. They can be found on construction sites and in manufacturing plants - jobs that Americans actually WANT to do.

TW: RFID tags - the type they would use in the proposed card - have a very limited range and are electronically unique. It's not a new technology, it's actually very mature - not that it's an argument either way.

Just my 2-cents worth...

An even more important point: identification doesn't prevent anything. It's only the law-abiding ones who would show it anyway.

If the republican immigration strategy is letting each state set up their own immigration laws then the US federal government's enforcement of immigration will become more complicated and most likely unenforceable.

Uh?
The Az law has certainly not complicated federal immigration law. Didn't "complicate" one word of it. Neither would any other state law.

Become unenforceable? The only thing that does or will make fed imm law unenforceable is a lack of political will. Perpwalk a couple dozen Fortune 500 CEOs for hiring illegals.... 10,000,000 pink slips ensue wirhin 30 days. And our southern border is clogged for three months. With southbound traffic.

At ten thousand dollars per violation ...10 million violations....happy days are here again..I grant that a hundred billion wont buy what it used to but you know every little bit helps.
