Completely and entirely off subject:

VC, on your side of the pond, isn't 'having a go' at someone more along the lines of giving them a poke in fun?  I could be completely wrong on this and if I am, maybe you could enlighten Me a bit.

That pretty well covers it here in Aussie. having a go stops just short of reaming a new arse-hole at the extreme end and on 'tother it is jokingly taking the Micky out of a mate.

Micky out of a mate?

I feel like I need a translator. [:)]

Taking the Micky out of a mate translates to poking fun at a mate for something he has said and done which made him a "Wally" or idiot in a friendly way.  (Like some one placing their smokes in the freezer and the butter in their pocket by mistake). Hope that clarifies this. [;)]

Thanks LP been a long while we were totally off line but like a bad penny I am back to haunt CM.[:D][:D]

See this... this is why I want to come to Australia and... erm... sample the local delights. The words are the same but the terms are so deliciously foreign. Makes me wonder what could end up growled in my ear. [:D]

IronBear -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/4/2010 6:37:16 PM)

A drop bear, a bunyip perhaps or a goanna although they don't growl but have long forked tongues. You would have to watch out for the Bundy Bear as he is a deviant with a wicked sense of humour and an eye for the ladies.

Truly amazing.

For an obvious point (which people still managed to miss, even though it was only two sentences long), you've certainly commented on it frequently enough. Mostly to say it's an obvious point. You could be right. Again.

Oh, OK...a few more times then.

AquaticSub -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/4/2010 10:36:52 PM)

I love that you completely ignore the fact that I responded to your burning quest for information. Interesting since, as I stated, my owner and I actually more or less agree with you. [;)]

The focus seems to be not on your question but on who is responding. Interesting.

Musicmystery -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/5/2010 7:20:22 AM)

I read your take, and the others.

What do you think needs to be said about it? It was straight-forward, like the others, point taken, moving on.

Much like the point you're belaboring. I got it. We all did. It's not a complicated point either.

AquaticSub -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/5/2010 9:49:57 AM)

Sorry I just think it's interesting that you did respond to me and only to the part that didn't relate to your OP.

Such postings are bringing others into a punishment, something we aren't particularly thrilled with. If he truly wished to punish me by making my infraction known, he'd command me to tell our friends. The people who know me in real life, not more or less strangers on a message board.

Wow! This is so insightful! Read no further, everyone! This sums it up so nicely. The scales have been lifted from my eyes.

I especially love the tremendous depth of your response, the analytic detail, the window into the human psyche that henceforth will alter and guide me forever, as I'm sure it will others.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this bit of wisdom with us! Truly!

Best to you and yours.

*grins* You can have quite a sense of humor when you want.

I have not the first clue what you just said, but it's always a pleasure to see you here!

DMFParadox -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/6/2010 7:16:36 AM)

Musicmystery: In regards to the topic, it seems that a lot of long-distance relationships will end up with this as a punishment. It can be tough to be creative, especially when you're new to BDSM; I see those threads and think, 'newbies'.

In regards to the hen party you bewailed on the front page a few days back, well... yep. It's a goddamned hen party. Asking them to pipe down so that the guys can talk about the male perspective usually tanks your thread completely. I ended up putting about 30 people on my ignore list the last time I did this; some of whom were men. One gent on this very page, for example, I will never read again except in quotes from others, and so far none of those quotes have encouraged me to revise this policy.

In other news, gotta watch out for those damned drop bears. One got my cousin. We still haven't found his left arm.

Although here in Florida, we don't need drop bears; we've got freedom lovin' terrorist monkeys in Tampa, gator-eating bull pythons in the swamps, and of course plenty of python food roaming around.

Me? I don't have time to micromanage.

I have even less time to critique some other guy's disciplinary strategies.

Musicmystery -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/6/2010 4:18:20 PM)

How nice for you.

Perhaps next time you'll have time to read the OP, which, rather than critiquing the practice, doubts its legitimate existence.

It's on page one. Post number one.

While MM did specifically address the "guys" I do have to wonder a bit why it is this should be a gender specific question?  If you would like to enlighten Me as to why the perspective of a Dominant in this matter would be so much different because of the genitalia they possess, please do so.  Exactly what do you see about the subject that would change had the question only received answers from Dominants that were biologically male?

IronBear -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/6/2010 10:43:57 PM)

Mind you, colloquially speaking, it is common to use "guys" when addressing a mixed group, just as we refer to ourselves as a hu-man and not hu-person.

LadyPact -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/7/2010 1:40:42 AM)

Which is how I saw it, too, IB.  Not so much gender oriented, but rather position oriented.

In all seriousness, I would say that most (perhaps 90%) of issues that spring up within power dynamics overlap in regard to gender.  A subject such as punishment, doesn't really hit that inner circle of the bulls eye.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Really? Communal Confessions? (5/7/2010 1:57:41 AM)

Well, some of the people here, and on alt, in my case back then were friends, and it was embarrasing to go " infront of" people I liked and talked to regularly, if only online, as I do consider online only friendships, friends, and have my shit laid bare against my will to them.

Now sure, I could of refused, and gotten more punishment, or hell maybe even gotten myself released for my refusal to do as he said when I was already in mega deep shit, but I was rather attached to him being my dom, so I did as I was told.

ehhh I wanna know how it can be considered punishment?  Spoutin off to some faceless nameless who really could care less what you have to say.

Without perpetuating the side chat, the reason wasn't genitalia, but rather it's female subs that seem to be the "punished" in the matter I was questioning, and it was female subs who jumped in to answer a question directed at whether their men actually punished people this way. I doubted it, so asked. Your response was fine, along the same lines as the spirit of the OP.

From there it was people overreacting to a simple observation. That noted, though, I wouldn't have answered a similar question in the Ask A Mistress section. Perhaps I'm a minority in that respect.

No worries.

Not only that, TM, but notice that so far, except for you, it's all girls chiming in where I clearly was asking the guys.

I checked out the local BDSM group a few times and stopped going for exactly this reason--it was really run by the subs.

Tim,

The term "guys" can be used for either gender.  It is actually a reference to Guy Falkner.

Also, the male pronouns/nouns have always been seen to be inclusive of both males and females.  "All men are created equal," refers to both sexes, kind of thing.
