I say if you break any highway rule or any traffic regulation then you should forfeit both your driving license and car.

I'll bet you don't drive and/or own a car.

unfortunately, common courtesy is not a prerequisite for having a drivers license. If it was Loki, you would be using mass transit and having some jackass of a motorist not care that they splash you because" if you truly wanted to stay dry, you'd not be standing outside in the rain the first place"

Yeah...and fortunately for you, an intelligence test isn't required either.

DesFIP -> RE: bad drivers (5/2/2010 4:32:31 PM)

I hope no one thought I was uncaring about the pedestrians. I do try to avoid them. But around here owning a SUV seems to mean the owner thinks he can still go 60 on ice, in snow, on wet leaves, on flooded streets. And I'm afraid of them because those big vehicles can do a lot of damage to me in my car.

auditguy -> RE: bad drivers (5/2/2010 5:06:21 PM)

You guys are all rookies, I've beaten every Grand Theft Auto game out there, which qualifies me (and about another 10 million under 35 year olds) to rule the roads.  I am so good at simulated driving that in real life every other vehicle, pedestrian and anything else on the road, automatically gets a point value from me.  I'm now like Ahab, waiting for my white whale of points to appear so that I can hit it (remember always be on the lookout for that sidewalk full of strippers from the rival gang).

pegbundy -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 6:37:16 AM)

My apologies, but the concept of assigning a points value to pedestrians and other drivers predates GTA by a few decades.

I don't drive and I never will. I am far-sighted and I never wear my glasses (unless I am working any cross-stitch project). My mom who is my driver is safe on the road. we don't have a cell phone and I carry a calling card around if I am stuck in Dallas because my connection is gone. I just go down 3 blocks and get a small hotel room and I am in a safe place (too many freaks hang out at the Dallas bus terminal).

What I cannot stand is the people taking up ALL of the road, especially when it is a country back lane. Second is idiots driving too fast on the said roads. Come on...the turns are sharp and there is a reason for driving a safe speed...so no one gets hurt!

Back to your usual channel.

GreedyTop -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 8:23:29 AM)

the people that drive UNDER the posted speed limit, or cant decide what speed they want to go.

failure to use a turn signal before braking hard and whipping onto a cross street.

not using headlights in rain or other bad weather

subtee -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 8:58:34 AM)

We need to clear the streets of old people driving during rush hour or lunch hour or during the day, basically. Call your senators and members of congress. They get up at 4:00 am, let them get their errands done then instead of when the rest of us actually need to get somewhere.

I like old people. At home. [:@]

Not to mention there are small kids that live on those roads.

Holly, I promise, if I ever drive up to visit, I will NOT use the lead foot..I'll use the feather foot :)

There's a reason they teach "defensive" driving in Drivers Ed.  Can't control the world's behavior - can only control your own.

And while I've been splashed by a car/puddle, I don't slow down for puddles.  That's a sure fire way to cause an accident - slowing down suddenly in the rain.

And we'll all get old and still need to get around.  If we're driving with care and attention, as has been suggested, we will see possible hazards and avoid them.

Oh, I'm already old. Very, very, very, extremely old. And elderly. But I still have a job and errands and rush-around shit to be done. So you can see the difficulty.

I always avoid them but I don't always want to. [;)]

marie2 -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 10:46:12 AM)

I always drive more slowly in the rain and I always slow down even more when I see puddles ahead. My greatest fear in the rain is the risk of hydroplaning.

I avoid going through puddles if at all possible, and when I go through them, I don't go faster than about 25 mph. And if they're really huge, I'll bring my speed down even more than that if possible.

Heh...I've never splashed a pedestrian. That's just wrong!

Hydroplaning

reynardfox -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 12:45:54 PM)

I have had three very satisfying brawls since Christmas with morons who took liberties with me after noticing that there was a wheelchair in the back of my car.
They did not expect something like me to emerge from the car in a killing mood.
The funny part is that they are usually still shouting abuse when I hit them.
My wife has no asked me very nicely to cover the chair as it is like a red flag to a bull to Mitsubishi drivers.

I will admit to doing this. I know this is wrong and it has happened a few times. In my defense one time the person was way too close to the curb. Another time there was no way to avoid the puddle. In all honesty I did say sorry to them as I sped away.

domiguy -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 12:56:36 PM)

I am the driver that got beat up by reynard. Someone please call an ambulance.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:07:27 PM)

Not all old people are slow or poor drivers. Both my parents are 71, maybe even 72 I can't remember exactly, and they're  very good drivers. They go the speed limit, they're not slow or doddering. They pay attention to what's going on and rules of the road, sometimes much better than most the other people on the road.

If I get the chance I will run your folks off the road. You don't even know how old they are? They deserve to meet the barrels of sand.

Have you ever seen the size of the glasses those old fuckers wear as they putter on down the road?

God, how I hate those fucking fucks!!!

divi -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:16:46 PM)

I think people over the age of 65 need to be road tested. When I go to Florida I hate driving cause of the old folks ..
