Have you ever noticed their skin flaking off as they drive down the road?

When I was a kid I think my Grandomme lost thirty pounds of skin on the drive from Miami to Fort Lauderdale.

Then she died.

pegbundy -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:32:58 PM)

Sorry to hear about your Grandomme domiguy.

And I think old people should be allowed to drive. I'd prefer it if they had assigned hours to be on the road, though, so as not to be in my way.

domiguy -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:39:23 PM)

Maybe they could be on the road between 1pm and 2. Thats it. If pulled over after 2 they have to go straight to a nursing home for the next three months and get fucked by the help.

Am I the only one that thinks it would be nice to live in a nursing home?

divi -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:42:09 PM)

Yes ... my noona lived in one and its not a happy place

And I think 1-2 is too long. What about 1 - 1:45 ?

Not to mention taking bi-annual re-checks to keep their license.

subtee -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:46:34 PM)

Oh, they'd never get anywhere in 45 minutes! They'd be half way to the pharmacy and have to go home.

(Divi, look at my tagline! It was a present...)

domiguy -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 1:46:36 PM)

why did noona stop living there?

divi -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 2:15:24 PM)

She passed away... she is in a better place now :) lol...

Well, as bad as it is for everyone in cars, take away the "Cage" (i.e. car) around you, sit on two wheels and see how much worse it gets. [:D] Nothing quite like having some Soccer Mom (No offense to anyone) who's fighting with kids, talking on the phone, smoking her cigarette and drinking her latte as she comes screaming up on the back of your bike at 30 mph only to stomp on the brakes and stop mere inches from your fender. That will wake you up in the morning. [;)]

Seriously, there are good and bad everywhere, we just have to keep our eyes and ears open all the time and be alert to what's going on around us. We who ride have a saying..."They ARE out to get you".

DesFIP -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 6:02:22 PM)

And some of us caged drivers are terrified of irresponsible motorcycle riders. On the Major Deegan Expressway going into Manhattan with the always insane traffic, two kids on bikes decided to do tricks just ahead of me. You want to practice riding on your back wheel with the front in the air, go someplace where I won't have to hit you when you wipe out. Don't pick the worst possible road to do this on.

Or the one that decided he didn't have to stay in his lane, he could ride between the lanes and when he was at fault for hitting my car, had the temerity to claim I had 400 yards visibility to see him. His own passenger wouldn't testify in his behalf.

My apologies, but the concept of assigning a points value to pedestrians and other drivers predates GTA by a few decades.

Please see the following - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072856/

Now it's a good movie, but it is no real life simulator like GTA.  I mean can you pass your driver’s test after two hours of watching a movie (even if it is good)? No.

Can you pass the driver’s test after 42 straight hours of GTA? Yes, and you can get to the secret level if you fling your examiner out of the car while parallel parking.

Lauri

Im not.. But I admire your self control Lauri.

Having driven large vehicles for a living I always found it piss funny to soak people at a bus stop but hey, maybe im a bastard.

I would like to know what sort of dill stands next to a puddle on a road and doesn't expect to get splashed.

As for drivers?

Well since Christmas Ive had 6 near misses at 100 kph which doesnt bother me too much because I drive a Range Rover with a bull bar and when im not in the Rangie im driving an old Merc Wagon.

I talk on the phone in them all the time using my Blue Ant hands free and apart from laughing maniacally whenever I see people standing near puddles im a good driver.

No Accidents in 15 years and one speeding fine in about the same time.

Im also a driver trainer, cars, buses and trucks although thats not how I make my living these days.

Anyway, IF you dont want to get wet when it rains?

Stay home, drive a car or wear full body latex.

YUM!

Good thing about Aus, a quick call to the Road traffic authority (DMV) and a rego number and the old folks get a please explain.

It takes a while on the phone but ive persevered a few times and seen dangerous oldies restricted in their driving.

What then happens is they have to have a medical, they check to see what Meds they are on and what medical issues they have.

If they dont come up to 100% they get re-tested by a driver trainer and occupational therapist and then they will either have their license suspended cancelled or restrictions placed on their driving such as times of use and routes travelled.

The norm is no night driving, no main roads or in extreme cases they must follow such and such route between such and such time for shopping or church.

Shame it doesn't extend to kids.

Oh and for those of you wityh an evil turn of mind who think I do this to drum up work?

Nah, I hate re-certing oldies and they stink up the car. (Kidding)

pegbundy -> RE: bad drivers (5/3/2010 7:51:32 PM)

That does sound good. Around here, we pretty much just allow them to drive until they kill or seriously injure someone.
