Well, ok, I guess I will chime in...I would have chimed in sooner, but I was dealing with the wonderful drivers in Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis & Chicago...OH JOY!!!!! GreedyTop I'm sure we could definitely share some war stories, that's for sure. I guess I have so say my favorite drivers are the ones who hate truck drivers?? Ok, more than just those, here are some of my most favorite scenerios. 1) I am coming up on a slow vehicle, I put on my turn signal to go around that slow vehicle. My turn signal is the signal for everyone to start passing me. I'm now down to 45 miles an hour & am being passed by 10 vehicles, why? Because I put on my turn signal to go around a slow vehicle. 2) The "Got to beat the big truck" theory. A car knowing that his exit is coming up figures that I'm going to slow when I'm doing 70 in a 65, so he has to fly around me on the left, then cut me off to get off the exit, only to sit at the traffic light. Ok, and that driver saved how much time by doing all this? 3) Car is getting on the road, car has a yield sign, car decided to ignore said yield sign & come flying out in front of the vehicle traveling that has the right of way, car expects me to hit the brakes instead of him...well, at least 1 out of 2 isn't bad, sad thing is, this accident is my fault, why? Because my 18 wheels, 18 brakes (yeah, I wish) & 18 tires should have stopped when he slammed on the brakes after cutting me off. 4) Cutting across 4 lanes of traffic to get off the exit...do you REALLY know what's on the right side of a semi truck, like the car that is illegally passing me on the right & will complete the pass just as you're coming into the same lane the car is in as you come across the 4 lanes of traffic. ACTUAL FACTS!!!!! 1) YIELD = Yes I Estimate Lots of Damage 2) This is a statistically known fact - Car vs. Truck accidents, only approximately 12% are caused by semi trucks 3) In my opinion, truckers are 1 of the most hated drivers in the US. 4) When you are at a store making your purchases, you are not thinking about where the items on the shelf came from (no really, there is no merchandise fairy in the back room of the store waving a wand & making stuff appear), but keep in mind when you see us on the road, we are gone from home for WEEKS & at times months at a time, away from our homes & families, missing holidays, family reunions, our children's special events, our wedding anniversaries, and lots of other things so that you can have the meds you need, the food & diapers for the kids, gas for your car, or even the car itself. 5) If you remember nothing else out of anything that I put in this post, remember 1 thing, when you see that (up to or bigger) 75 foot long, 13' 6" high vehicle out there, remember that the person driving that truck is just like you, they are human, have a life, a home, a family & feelings.
