In Boston, Mass last week WRKO radio host Howie Carr had a poll asking if people "supported" or were "against" Arizona's new law.
The results, "93 % Support" "7% Against."
And that in Massachusetts, "The Bluest of Blue States!"
Also, if you go into the L.A. Times and read the comments in the articles about AZ's law they are *overwhelmingly* in favor of Az. and against illegals, "amnesty", and any politician who favors"amnesty."
But, let us see what happens when we have the "real poll" in November.
I think it's only fair that any congressman/woman, or senator who is in favor of any type of "amnesty" or not enforcing the law in this area make themselves *known* to their constituents and the voters.

You're missing the major reason cities try to shut this down. When an unknown number of people are living in one place, and frequently subdividing the spaces, the risk is of multiple deaths by fire. If the house is listed as one family, firefighters expect to find about five people in it. If you have six per room, they don't know that, and that means lives lost.

They do pay taxes... it is their employers who do not remit it to the government.

I could not agree more...the law for employing illegal aliens is a felony and carries a $10,000 fine for each violation and it gets steeper for subsequent violations.
So imagine the fine on someone who has a couple of hundred illegals on the payroll.

How else can we stop illegal aliens except to check for citizenship?
Raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour then all of the "patriotic" employers will hire citizens instead of illegal immigrants if it cost the same to employ either.

I understand most of these people are just here for a better life but do it legally as my forefathers did when they came to America.

Our forfather came here and stole this land from it's original inhabitants...is that what you are suggesting that Mexico do?

And, "tourism?" Sure, they're all going to Disneyland and staying for a week $2,100 for hotel rooms, $600 for meals, $500 for Disney tickets, $200 for gas!
And then,..... pack up the Cadillac Escalade and back to Mexico, right?

The entire state budget is about ten billion and the deficite is about 2.2 billion....lets say each of those 24 million legal tourist were to spend a thousand dollars(not an outrageous sum if you are vacationing for a couple of weeks).
The govonor and the legislature seem intent on not only shooting themselves in the foot but in also asking for someone to reload the gun for them.
Perhaps California shold take out some full page adds in some Sonoran newspapers to let them know that their money is welcome here without any hassels about their color. Yes we take checks and plastic as well as pesos and dollars.

At todays prices I am afraid that 200 dollars worth of gas most likely would only get them about half way.
You did know that the Grand Canyon (A major tourist attraction is not in California.)


And then,..... pack up the Cadillac Escalade and back to Mexico, right?

So them poor "third worlders can afford an Escalade????first they are too poor to spend any money and then they have a Caddy....your consistancy is up to it's usual standards.

Hey Popeye. :)  

Well, if they have tourist visas, they're probably somewhat "middle class" (since Mexican's have to show property ownership, stable employment, etc., to get a tourist visa).   People don't come into Utah and spend millions, but we still are utterly dependent on the tourists who come here during a few months a year to ski, and spend money in restuarants, bars, hotels, shopping, and etc.

I'm not arguing for a particular position, I'm just wondering how it's going to come into play.

Maybe you should get out of WI every now and then.  All along the TX, AZ, NM border people cross and purchase things everyday.  You would be shocked how many people cross from Mexico and purchase things and make extended trips. 

A Fox new poll?  Isn't that on the same level as taking a poll of High Times readers on whether marijuana should be legal and presenting that as a representation of the country?

Well, here's the report, for whatever it's worth.  Even if the numbers are half that, it's clear that these visitors must have a large impact on the economy of Arizona.
