As sravaka has long held an advanced degree and is the author of published scholarly books and articles, I seriously doubt she's intimidated by anyone's education.

And... your point? You will note that she is the one who brought up education in the first place, and for no reason other than to attack the OP. That said, I would think that a published author would take a firm stance against plagiarism, even if xhe wasn't fond of the person making the OP. Also, I'm curious as to how the fact that she has 'long held' an advanced degree means anything at all, as 'holding' a degree, once earned, requires exactly nothing.

As for pettiness--she took a few swipes, but there's no shortage of petty sniping in this thread.
Just saying.

Obviously. Just saying.

OK...if there was no point in bringing it up, then why did the poster to whom I was responding bring it up?

Perhaps that's whom you should ask.

As for plagiarism, she in fact did come out against it. From there, the pages of petty pile on. Walk proud.

She didn't... like really didn't. Your post shows that it was response to Syl, who didn't say word one about level of education. Scrolling up leaves me guessing exactly who the hell you actually were responding to.

Clue me in and I will.

'Walk proud'? I just got here, dude, and commented on what I saw. Deal with it, sheesh.

She did. She really did. The nonsense about intimidation and writing style.

Then why the snarky attitude about what you don't even know yet? You came gunning for me because I clarified an error. Sheesh. Get a grip.

This thread is about overreaction to an overreaction to an overreaction to an occurrence successfully resolved within a few hours. And yet, here on Day Two of Petty Fest, the flogging continues. Poor horse. Well, it had good life, and we'll always have memories.

LadyA, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you never need to apologize for your education to the lackwits who are intimidated by it.  In my opinion, while your style is occasionally more formal than typical of a message forum such as this, you have never appeared pompous in your posts.

Thanks Sylvere. Much appreciated. And Wyld too.

As for the purpose of starting this thread, I figured by bringing the issue to the table, perhaps other people who "borrow stuff" from others might see how irate it makes the author. And I was irate. And I also figured that after about 7000 threads, I can share some of the things that irate me with the people I post here with.

Had I dragged out the woman's name, called her out to be persecuted, etc, then I would have absolutely been guilty of being petty. I didn't. From post 1, I said I realised she probably didn't know what she was doing and that in itself baffled me.

So what's the point of this thread? When I started and said usually this doesn't bother me so much but now it is, I think it's that it's the absolute ignorance to what plagiarism really is.

There is no point in trying to rehabilitate a thief (unless one is specialized in this field), but educating the ignorant about what practices are acceptable is worth it. So if I'm going to get flack for trying to raise such issues in an online community that I've been a member in for 6 years and get a little flack for it, then I can live with that.

I would like to hear more about your nipples.

LaTigresse -> RE: Is imitation really the sincerest form of flattery? (5/3/2010 8:30:32 AM)

For whatever reasons the culprits had, I've had many photos and words 'borrowed' in my time on the net.

Considering I am not a published author, my work is not copy written or anything of that sort, I am a grown adult, fully aware of the nature of the internet beast,.........I shrug it off.

I've got far more important things to concern myself with than some twit that is so pathetic a writer or insecure in their looks they have to use MY stuff to compensate! Mine? Surely they could try a little harder than to use mine!

Besides, anyone using someone else's stuff to try and score is going to blow their cover sooner or later.

No...she seems to have one single issue with LA.

And that issue is that LA educated and honest about it. Which would lead one to believe that she has an issue with educated people who are honest about it ...

Just sayin'.

An....interesting bit of "deduction."

But this has already been given more time than it deserves. Enjoy.

They are supposedly pink and tiny...Like an eraser on the end of a pencil.

I wonder if they look anything like the erasers that Karen Jablonski had on the end of her pencils. I met her in the eighth grade, she was a bundle of raw nerves....I think her mom was an alcoholic. Anywhoooo, she chewed on everything from her nails to her hair to the erasers on the end of her pencils.

Do you think there is a chance that LadyA's nipples have been given the Karen Jablonski treatment?

I think there is a definite possibility.

I bet they look like huge flying saucers. From a distance it looks like you can actually see aliens standing around their ship. But, as you get closer you realize "the aliens" were really just strands of thick and black coarse hair.

Jeff - I'll leave it up to your imagination ;-)

No, not that huge. They're only like salad plate sized, so far. Also, I periodically shave them so all you can see is stubble.
