This is not a rant, though I will admit I'm more than slightly annoyed. I'm simply wanting to know what you would have done in a similar situation. A woman wrote to me today saying that she enjoyed one of my posts so she decided to put it in her journal. Yes, ok, it was flattering, as it always is, when someone gives you a compliment. But then I realised when clicking to see her profile that she had pasted my whole entire post as her own in her profile without any reference to me. Alright, so when you write stuff on the internet, prepare to have it stolen. I have been pointed to bits of my posts other Dommes Websites or professional profile and I never really bothered to make an issue of it because what is the point. However this woman actually wrote to me: I hope u do not not mind but you verbalized it so well I borrowed a bit of one of your journal entries regarding a D/s connection. Now what I'm realizing is that this woman must not have a clue that what she did was wrong. That is pretty evident. I wrote back: While I am flattered that you liked my post, I find it unethical that you have stolen my words and have posted them as your own. Had you quoted me, that would have been one thing, but to post them there as your own reflection, very uncool. I'll ask once. Please remove it. FYI - I checked and in the options to report a blog post, there is no "plagiarism" option. I am still awaiting her response but this happened much earlier today and I guess it's still ticking me off a little. It shouldn't, I know, but it is. So my questions are: - How would you have handled the situation? - How would you handle the situation now given the potential outcomes? - What is your opinion on the whole situation? - Not that I'm going to ask CM to add a feature, but hypothetically, since we have stolen photos, should we not have stolen text? - LA
