Mind you, if it were steep that might explain the hurricane damage

Steep in this sense is american slang for expensive and not the pitch of the roof.

Actually I think youll find its English slang that you lot must have inherited - unlikely you devised it separately on your own after all, as the Bible says "there is nothing new under the pun"

Gawd...I guess...I wish you only the best in your search for a home.

thompsonx -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/4/2010 4:58:57 PM)

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head the we devised seperately is the concept of cold beer[;)]

LadyEllen -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/4/2010 5:06:16 PM)

A schoolboy error of course

Lady E,

Just want to say that I admire your strength of will in arguing with Kevin. I've given up in the face of such unrelenting misunderstanding of how the universe works. but I'm well impressed that you're still going. :-)

I must confess VC, it has more to do with serious pain from arthritis and the contrary effect of opiate painkillers on my particular physiology in keeping me awake rather than putting me to sleep.

Possibly ....but fortutitous none the less.

Same here...they just fuck me up till I cannot walk and they do not make the pain go away they just make me not care about it, so I have sought out alternatives.

MissAsylum -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/4/2010 6:13:18 PM)

i wonder if i would be in the wrong in kevin's eyes since i just bought a new car this morning. nevermind the fact that i managed my money well and worked my butt off in the process- but just because kevin probably cant afford one himself. i've noticed that you've made it your personal mission to blame anybody who is currently doing well for themselves for the current state of the economy while you sit on here all day complaining about why life isnt fair. sing a new song kevin- the "woe is me" tune is getting old.

If opiates actually are working to relieve the pain, consider finding a topical applicant of the drug. They make patches and ointment these days with all kinds of good stuff in it and it goes right onto the point of pain rather than needing time to digest in your system before being effective.

Just a thought,

boi

thompsonx -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/4/2010 6:57:19 PM)

For me with opiats the pain does not go away. I just quit careing about it. That is all well and good if all I plan on doing is watching porn. If I want to like walk or stuff like that it is a non starter....so I just told the pill pusher at the VA to keep em and I would make other arrangements.
I find it interesting that my doctor at the VA worries that I will become addicted to marijuana while she is handing me a jar of percodan.

My guess is that you're not gonna need anything for glaucoma ever in your life.

In all reality, the addictive properties of marijuana are far less than that of the synthetic opiates used in drugs these day. It all goes back to some mess big tobacco made up decades ago about marijuana being bad and lobbying for the U.S. gov't to make it illegal way back when.

But that's getting into the reality as to why pot is illegal in the U.S.

You are preaching to the choir...
your knowledge of history is not all that common.

Termyn8or -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/4/2010 9:18:42 PM)

Now there are a bunch of pages on this so I deem a jumpthrough appropriate.

I don't mean to sound crass, but let's just sort this out right now. If her income grew by tenfold in that period of time, she was either putting out or was one hell of a flirt.

Hmmmm, sounds like something domiguy would say.........

But the exisiting staff are not making any profit either and they are costing the company money.  The existing staff by and large are not but the heaviest paid staff are. They are responsible for delivering and they are not. They are costing far more than say 10 clerical officers put together. Do the maths and Youll see Im right. One chief executive say 1 million dollars, 10 clerical officers, 20,000 each.  I know what would I do and it would be first of all to cut the chief executive's salary in half. And then employ much needed staff. And stop this nonsense about skills. You dont need any skills to answer a phone or take messages.. All your friends could do that. They are crying out for a job. If you are in a position you are morally obligated to hire them
If you dont , then I dont know how you sleep at night
kevin

lobodomslavery -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/5/2010 12:20:07 AM)

No your absolutely right. That helps economic growth. Which helps create jobs. Keep up the spending Miss Asylum. Buy another new car next year. Keep spending if you can. You will help me get a job
Kevin

lobodomslavery -> RE: A bit of Justice finally (5/5/2010 12:22:10 AM)

Thats another issue. People who can well afford it are not spending and hence the economy is stagnating. But when people like your good yourself start spending again, then things will definitely improve. Spend spend spend

kevin, I've just bolded a portion and I'm going to try to make you see reason. Although, that's like talking to a wall. And there's more chance of a wall getting the point.

It does indeed take skills to answer a phone. Life skills, which you are sorely lacking. I've been employed as a receptionist and hired over others who've applied. Why? Because I can actually "talk" to people. I don't come across as an automaton, a boor or a smartass. I know business etiquette, not because I've got a degree but because I inherently *know* that I'm representing the company that's hired me. I've considered myself the first contact with whatever company and know that I leave a lasting impression because I'm positive. The same would apply to a moron who's hired and peeves the caller.

So, who would you rather have answer the phone? Someone who can be courteous and bring more business, or some moron who can't for the life of them figure out that the call coming in is nothing more than an inconvience? In this day and age the job of a receptionist is so much more than answering the phone. But answering the phone should still be priority #1, and that's forgotten for the most part.
