ORIGINAL: rulemylife Really? There's an affirmative action program for black Presidents? As previously posted.... I was being sarcastic. I'm sure that the 96% of the black vote he received was a result of those voters analyzing the issues, and Obama's ability. (In case there is any doubt - that was also sarcasm.) Obama's is a man of mixed race who happens to identify as black for personal gains and political capital. His race only serves to distract from the issues. It's sad that this question has to be asked in the face of the lack of accomplishments by this administration. When people bring it up it serves as a distraction. I guess the "he's not had enough time" excuse has expired - now it's "...because he's black." When will the excuses end and reality set in? The man didn't have the experience necessary, he's an academic theorist attempting to apply intellectual theory in the real world and finding out it doesn't work. He is not doing a good job. The racists on both sides can debate this irrelevant issue, serving only to polarize and distract. Try and keep up. quote:
ORIGINAL: Louve00 I guess you would say you're also assuming the reasons that Obama associates with being black for personal gain or political capital, instead of assuming the father/son complex and he is identifying with his father. It is my understanding from reading his books, his father wasn't too involved in his life growing up. The President was born in 1961, his parents divorced in 1964 and his father moved to Kenya. Per my recollection, I believe Obama saw him once after that. It is my opinion, and I won't deny it isn't tinged with skeptical jading, but the President used his mixed race to his advantage. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It's also my opinion why he was passed so fast up the ranks of the Democratic Party. They used him, he used them, the result is Obama is President. I appreciate the goal was achieved, and appreciate the means without prejudice as I would admire any working strategy. quote:
Being as most presidents have never been presidents before...and many have lacked in areas when coming thru the gate, I also will not judge his credentials for the job. If we go by that logic, why did we elect a class B actor (Reagan), as the president, back then? The distinction is they ran something. Some business, in Reagan's case, the union representing actors. He also was governor of a State and had experience running a government, which at the time, would have been one of the top 5 economies in the world if it was a stand alone sovereignty. In Lincoln's case, he had a failed businesses in his past. Failed or functional the experience helped them and was drawn upon. Obama never ran or was responsible for anything. The peak position of responsibility and accountability he held was the law paper. His theoretical knowledge and his intelligence is not serving him well in practical application. Or, after one and a half years, do you see the policies he's implemented bringing forth the positive results or even a positive trend indicating that he, as its leader, has the US moving forward collectively?
