Yes -- you, me and Iron Bear and I'm sure a lot of others are scratching their heads wondering WHY someone would say "I could care less." I mean, I just can't understand the logic of that phrase. There is no logic! Definite pet peeve.

How about "irregardless?"  While technically, it IS a word, it's not widely accepted as proper usage.  Even dictionaries say "regardless" is the proper term. 
 
When you think about it, "regardless" means "without regard."  Therefore, "irregardless" would have to mean, "without without regard," or "with regard," due to the double negative prefix.

I hate to say but 'how r u? or wat r u doin?' (from what I can recall, started within IM to make it faster.  IMO that's IM or 'text msgng' lingo Only! 
 
On message boards, email and professional writing, you have to try the best you can with spelling and grammer, etc.  Only once have I commented on a person's post because of grammer or spelling.  And that was 'like' she was constantly 'like' using 'like' so often.  I gave up and told her so. She even had a great topic but 'like' who knew because 'like' you had to decifer every 'like' bit of her 'like' post.  Talk about feeling frustrated with 'like' grammer!!!!!!!!!!

Status: offline 		Spelling errors do not really bother Me in the forums.  PMs, maybe, but not the forums, as long as I can understand the post.  What gets Me is the people that like type like a whole sentence like with like as every other word.  Like.  There is one post like this in one of these forums and I could not even finish it.  I burst out laughing and My eyes went out of focus and that was like it.  I could not make it through the rest of the post.  Man, My sides hurt after that.  haha.  Like.

I don't believe I've ever encountered "irregardless" before now. It's certainly not in common use in the UK and Webster Online gives it an American origin.

Point taken Lass, I've seen it used often enough when there is a huge play on words which can be an amusing mind game...I have a tendency to switch into medieval speak at times depending on whom I’m talking to, or become overly Edwardian which is something I like. However it is fair to comment that I have a passion for long flowery phrases too…. The long sonorous phrases used in lodge will always get me as well especially as they flow off the tongue like liquid honey…. .

Yep, not without regard for = with regard for or in regard to.  Right?

"One has to remember all subs aren't 110 pounds with long, flowing hair."
 
What's wrong with this sentence?  Well, the fact that it appears to be a statement of fact which is entirely false, because some subs are 110 lb with long, flowing hair.  I've seen them.  They do exist.
 
The proper phrasing should be, "One has to remember that not all subs are 110 lb with long, flowing hair."  This allows for the fact that some certainly are.

Status: offline 		A few more I see at the company where I work now and used to see a lot in student papers--

1) correct use of "their" (ownership), "there" (place), or "they're" (they are)
2) "congratulations" not "congradulations"
3) "alot" instead of "a lot"

"Congradulations" and pronounced that way too is something I see on many US TV programs we get here and of course the wannabe Aussie Hostesses copy it as being cool, but then they try to immitate the "Valley Girl" speak. Unfortunately the many of the girls at schools do the same and with teachers who don't know any better such speach becomes a habbit.........


Maybe TV and Vidios should be reserved for those who will not be so influenced and insert additional home work from school instead...... OK so I'm a bastard I know...

One word that gets mispronounced here a lot (even by our president) is nuclear. A lot of people (including him) pronounce it as "nuke-uh-ler."

Status: offline 		OK, I've got another one:  Not knowing when to say, "you and me," as opposed to "you and I."  If you can take out the "you and" part and it still makes sense, then it's right.
 
You and I went to the store, but Bill went to the movie with you and me.
 
Take out "You and," and it still makes sense.  "I went to the store, but Bill went to the movie with me."
 
Can't say, "Me went to the store," or "Bill went to the movie with I."

Well I could mention the misspelling of the English word - GAOL  which is printed as JAIL by Americans.
BUTT YA KNOES IT WOOD OPEN A CAN OF WORMZZ.  LOL
