I'm not a doctor, I don't know if you are ill. But many of us have noticed some major issues that would be worth you addressing. Again, this isn't said out of malice, but rather concern.

I agree with Venatrix, which is why any boss that I have, I have to hold in extremely high esteem and cannot be a micromanager. He or she must be a strong leader with experience to transfer to me.

Gawd. If I were to ask for such qualities in a boss, I'd probably be unemployed for most of my life!

For me, the world of work and employment just doesn't relate to D/s. An employer is only someone who pays for my services to him/her.

I will admit that I'm lucky in that I'm in a position where I get to choose who I want to work for and I went to work for the man I do now because he had these qualities. Before this, I was a self-employed consultant.

It doesn't relate to the world of D/s for me either. I wasn't talking about it from a kinky perspective.

But the bottom line is that my boss, the CEO, makes the final decisions. He almost always considers my input but will make the final decision. I have a choice to submit to his final decision and get a pay check or not submit and find another job. And that would be easy for me as I get contacted by at least one head hunter a month.

Since he and I are very compatible in the boss/employee dynamic, there are very few contentious moments and therefore no reason I'd want to jeopardize my very amazing work situation.

Mind you, I once had a really sexy boss, back when I was studying. I was quite happy consciously to buy into the idea of 'boss=superior' as a result. She was pretty severe, as well. (It helped that she had quite a harsh Belfast accent.) I drew some fun subby buzzes from it. Even the fact that I was paid next to nothing for working there added to it. Yowzah! You want weird, I gottit!

DeathinRevelry -> RE: Why would a Domme Woman look for a submissive work role (5/18/2010 3:58:13 AM)

Well, I'm a dominant woman, and I work in customer service, so I feel very qualified to speak on this subject. Your post seems to assume that simply because I like taking charge of an intimate partner, I want to take charge of an entire office, and that just isn't so. People work jobs for all sorts of different reasons, from training and education, to desire and enjoyment in what they do, to financial need. I work in customer service because I like helping people get what they need and I enjoy the challenge of calming a frustrated customer down. The job doesn't come home with me, so I have plenty of time and mental energy to write when I get home, whereas those times that I've taken a management position have left me stressed and frazzled at the end of the day, with no creative energy left for my muse.

Dominating a willing and eager submissive is very different than managing or administering an office. For one thing, with a submissive, you have someone who wants to do your bidding, while in the office you've got people who have agreed to do a specific task in return for a specific reward. My pets haven't expected more than a smile and a 'good job' when they've done well- they serve because it fulfills something inside them. Workers in an office are generally there because they need the paycheck, and hopefully enjoy part or all of their job tasks, although that's often seen as a secondary trait. Basically, you can't expect the same things from one as you can the other, and if you tried, you'd be setting yourself up for a tremendous crash.

I'm aware that there will always be those that look down on me for my job preference. There will also be those that look down on me because I need to lose weight, or I wear glasses, or have brown hair, or I'm a single mother, or... Take your pick. Someone who can't be bothered to look beyond or find out why such conditions might exist really doesn't belong in my life, and I'm actually fairly grateful they tend to make themselves easy to spot.

mummyman321 -> RE: Why would a Domme Woman look for a submissive work role (5/18/2010 1:43:15 PM)

Your work roles does not define your BDSM preference. Such a closed mind to think that everything in life is either Dom(me) or sub in nature.

Being a Dom(me) or sub is a personal choice. Many times people actually choose the opposite of their work life. How many Doctors, lawyers, CEOs, senators, Etc love to be submissive behind closed doors? We read about them in the paper all the time

TexasMaam -> RE: Why would a Domme Woman look for a submissive work role (5/19/2010 11:00:07 AM)

I asked about your job, or means of making a living, Kevin, because I could sense in your OP that you have no job of your own. Having no means to support yourself makes it easy for you to criticize those who work for a living, whatever their job might be.

Your excessive aggression, insults to others, condescending arrogance and extreme volatility indicate a full blown case of SC.

Kevin, as with most patients who suffer from Superiority Complex and related psychiatric issues, you are clearly attempting to compensate for feelings of inferiority that overwhelm your psyche and trigger your aggressive and inflammitory outbursts - written, or otherwise - to mask your deeply rooted feelings of personal, social and economic inferiority.

I certainly was not inquiring due to any sense of interest in you as a potential sub.

I was merely trying to gain some perspective vis a vis your reasoning, or lack thereof, re your OP with regard to this issue.

Thank you for providing same.

I can only hope you continue to receive the treatment and medication you may require.

TM

Are you serious? Do you realize how many seriously mentally ill people think they are just fine? If ill people knew they were ill, things would be much, much easier in ALL aspects of healthcare - mental and physical.

As it stands, you really should get yourself checked out.

Lockit -> RE: Why would a Domme Woman look for a submissive work role (5/19/2010 2:41:54 PM)

What happened to the days of old that even this old broad remembers? When Kevin was consistently complaining about people not understanding mental illness/depression and how it effects people and how cruel we were not to consider someone with a mental illness for a spouse? The days when Kevin admitted to having serious problems and how angry he was with us all over the fact that we wouldn't be interested in someone with serious life issues as well as mental and emotional.

Kevin has taken a different track with newly found agitation with dominant's that have done him wrong based on a former relationship with a dominant that charged him for her interest in him and his no longer being able to afford her interest and demands.

Taken from Kevin's own words, actions and repeated postings, he admits that he is having problems and yet wishes to be treated as any other person would be. You can't have both considerations Kevin. You wanted special treatment because you had some emotional/mental issues and now you want the focus taken off you and placed on your presumed faults of dominant women.

It doesn't take a doctor to know when someone just isn't functioning in any manner that is stable, adult and socially acceptable. Now pardon me while I go check my new heels and if I can still drive my cab with them. I've got a poor unemployed, soggy bastard in the back seat that I decked out, that needs to see a doctor. And you better believe I am going to charge him!
