ORIGINAL: Jeffff Interesting response. I have treated you quite civilly lately, so of course you offer up a weak insult. Next you will call me a troll. But to your point, I hate anything that reduces liberty and increases the power of law enforcement. I hate the patriot act and I hate this one. If safety is our concern, wouldn't the money be better spent on something like inspecting ALL of the cargo that comes into this country? Why would a conservative champion the increase in government? Aww come on, you set yourself up for that one. It was just a joke. I appologize. I did not mean for anyone to literally think I think Jeffff is full of hate. I was taking a cheap shot and should refrain from doing so in the future, in order to have more productive discussions and my personal Karma.. Seriously, I do not understand why having fewer fake IDs, is an increase in Government. Having better, more secure Ids, seems like a good thing to me. I understand why realone and termy are scared to death at the idea of not being able to show cops fake ids when they get pulled over or work without having to pay thier child support. Why are you opposed to it? as to Esoclectica's comments. The Real ID act is not in full force yet. You can read the implementation schedule and extensions, if you want. But your quote of the law directly contradicts Eso. who did not give any source for his claim that hundreds of names can be associated with each Number in the SSLOV. quote:
Instead, the DHS rule requires the states to verify the validity, and its match with the name given, of the social security number itself, via electronically querying the Social Security On-Line Verification (SSOLV) database managed by the Social Security Administration.
