KatyLied -> AZ, All Stars, & Looking Illegal (5/15/2010 8:58:42 PM)

It seems as though Selig will not move the 2011 MLB All Stars game out of AZ.  There is a movement under way to urge the boycott of AZ.  It is noted that the MLB has a player base made up of 30% Hispanic players.

Do you think the MLB should move the game, or should it stay out of political and social justice issues?

I don't mind if it gets involved in political or social justice issues but I think a boycott of Arizona is stupid.

Yea, I really have to wonder about that. And once all the laws are straightened out and everyone is happy again, how much will it cost in federal aid to bail out the state after we have destroyed their economy.

Sanity -> RE: AZ, All Stars, & Looking Illegal (5/15/2010 9:14:15 PM)

As far as baseball goes, I hate it when actors or musicians or any other celebrities pretend they have all the answers any more than anyone else. Regarding Arizona, even if any of these politically motivated boycotts are successful they'll hurt the Hispanic population in Arizona as much as or more than the rest of Arizona.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that.

subrob1967 -> RE: AZ, All Stars, & Looking Illegal (5/15/2010 9:45:13 PM)

Selig should ignore the dumb ass ban and leave the game in Arizona.

The Arizona illegal law is such a non issue, but gawd damn lefties have to have something to cry about, it's pathetic.

KatyLied -> RE: AZ, All Stars, & Looking Illegal (5/16/2010 4:50:11 AM)

How can you even begin to think that the AZ law is a non-issue? Perhaps you are blond and blue eyed and do not look illegal.  There is nothing okay with legalizing racial profiling.

Even though you know nothing we still allow you to speak. But You being the patriot you claim to be would deny them?
You really are quite full of thyself.

Your concern for the hispanics is touching...
touching my funny bone.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that.

Obviously you must be a rocket scientist

So the corrolary to your position is that you would continue to hire illegals because boycotting them would be a non issue.
Thank you for making your position clear.

And there is nothing 'ok' with illegal immigration, either. However no one mentions that.

No there isn't, but how this law is structured isn't ok either.

At least they are doing "something." For far too long our border has been leaking more than the pipeline in the gulf. If we have to switch to a tactic like this to get some actual progress started, I'm fine with that.

Remember, illegal isn't a race. It's just illegal.

tazzygirl -> RE: AZ, All Stars, & Looking Illegal (5/16/2010 7:07:11 AM)

Funny how someone who spoke out against the effectiveness of a boarder wall is now using the same wall to promote his campaign.

It's a non issue because all Arizona has proposed is to uphold existing Federal law. Laws that are already on the books, that the Feds find easier to ignore. All we have are illegals, and illegal supporters crying racial profiling, but no real racial profiling going on. Unless you have the evidence that cops in Arizona have profiled at all?

Like I said, it's a non issue.

1. Show me where I condoned anyone hiring illegals
2. Stop trying to put words in other peoples mouths, so to speak.

Or to use your bullshit style of debate, since you haven't taken a position  about giving Rottweilers blow jobs, you're all about giving Rottweilers blow jobs, thank you for making your position clear...

See how that works?

KatyLied -> RE: AZ, All Stars, & Looking Illegal (5/16/2010 8:38:31 AM)

So stopping people who look a certain way is not racial profiling??

There is an illegal immigration problem, I don't think many would argue with that.  The system needs fixed, but AZ is not the way to go about it.

Why is the Hispanic population different than the rest of Arizona in your mind?

I would think that you meant to say that the boycott of Arizona will hurt all of the citizens of that state.

Thats not what the law does, I suggest you read up on what is actually in the law.

Thats a cheap shot, I used to think you were somewhere above domi's trollish inanity.

The reason the boycotts will hurt the immigrants in Arizona more is that they will be among the first laid off if the boycotts have any effect, and they are of a lower income level as a group to begin with.
