What about "fucking shit"?

That's a disturbing metaphor, however it's read...

Because everybody else does it and now it’s an automatic reflex or habit but that doesn’t mean I believe in anything.

- still looking for god but can’t find evidence.

As most have pointed out, it's become a habit of speech without any real meaning or intent behind it.

My grandfather came to this country not knowing a word of English.  Halfway through his train ride to the Dakotas he needed more money and found a job in a lumber mill in Ohio.  That's where he learned English.  Until the day he died most everything good or bad had the added "gottdum" adjective.  It was also obvious that "fuck" was a lot easier for him to pronounce.  I don't remember his expletives having any real malice... it was just the way he learned the language.

And there are many, like, you know, that similarly speak neither to appreciation or one's knowledge base.

Why do people say "literally" when they mean emphatically figuratively?

One day, in a silly mood (yes, yes, I know)... I was feeling irreverant. I wrote out post cards to all my friends ... each had a Jesus sticker. I think my favorite one was Jesus on the cross. I had written a speaking balloon wiht him saying "Hey Mom, I can see our house from here."

Yeah, I'm going to hell.

*wee typo

Heeee love it... irreverently

Somewhere, probably, lol.  As for the last one, yes.  I've heard in some places in India that cows are indeed considered holy.

On the rare occasions when I do say cuss words, I leave my God out of it.  I'm more likely to holler "SHIT!" or mutter "oh, fuuuuck" when I slam my toe into something painful, etc.  The F word was one of the very first words I ever learned, and my dad tried to tell others that I was trying to say duck...but my pronunciation was perfect and nobody bought it, lol.  I use the S word for sudden pain, and the F word when I'm under sleep dep and something is either very tedious or annoying.

I'm trying to behave and switch back to substitute cussing like frack and shoot...cuz...it's embarrassing to say "oh SHIT" and see a young child's eyes get really wide or a parent whip their head around with an "I can't believe you just sad that" look.

i don't have a "god". i've found gods to be useless and non-existent. too many people have died without any help from "god"

Well, if we consider Tantra, then technically there are holy fucks too.

Miss Asylum,

I'm sorry somebody offended you. Hopefully you will remember the feeling when someone says or does something that inspires your religious ferver and right as you are about to say something to "correct them" you will stop. It was foolish of them to use the occasion of you being polite to attack the existance of god, but it's also foolish to pretend you don't understand why people say goddammit! Someone was rude to you. Nothing more. Let's leave Jesus out of it.

i wasnt offended- i simply asked that if you don't believe in a God or a god, why say it. not thing more, nothing less. i'm not pretending to not know that its a figure of speech- my question was directed at those eho will take a bloody hour out of their day to "convince" me that i am a silly person for having faith in God, all because i said "bless you", but insist on saying it. so how about we leave your assumptions about me from only 3 posts out of it?

and allow me to "correct" you for stating an unbiased truth as religious ferver( i personally dont have the energy)- it is a fact that the new testement is the same for judism, christianity and catholism. that was all i said that stated a fact that anybody can go look for themselves if they feel motivated to. i corrected nobody on if what they believe in or dont believe in is false- i have no right to say that. so as a suggestion- maybe it wouldnt hurt to take your own advice- when you decide to make draw dead wrong conclusions about somebody- you'll stop.

Pedophile Jesus! That's a surprise, I'd always thought that different denominations used different translations and that Judaism didn't use the new testament at all.
