I personally can not imagine a life so complicated I needed a stable of slaves to help me.

I must say i agree with the others more than me would be too many. I don't get enough time with Master as is ,i do not share.

I think this question shouldn't be framed in terms of quantity (how many) but rather in terms of quality (who are the slaves? how do they relate to you? how do they relate to each other?).

Since it's clear the op isn't monogamous, shouldn't she ask on the poly board? Or on Ask a Mistress where more male subs hang out and can answer.

However the right amount is individual to each person.

I don't think there's any magic number for "how many is too many" - it's going to depend on the mix of personalities and circumstances. Even speaking personally, as a submissive male open to the idea of being part of a harem, it would depend on the specifics of the situation. If the entire harem were living together under one roof, I would probably need significant time and attention from the Mistress on a more or less daily basis. This arrangement would probably limit the size of the harem to a small number of men, unless some of them actually enjoyed feeling like neglected property and/or just got quiet satisfaction out of going about their household duties without much direct contact. On the other hand, if I were living elsewhere and travelling in to serve the Mistress occasionally, I would need a large share of her attention during my visits but not so much at other times.

One practical approach, from your point of view, might be to start with just one slave and then gradually expand your stable until you feel like you're reaching the limit of your ability to manage and attend to them all. This would also allow you to make the newer members of the harem subordinate to the older ones, if you want to experiment with a hierarchy. I'm sure a lot of men would hate this, but I've always (despite being basically heterosexual) kind of liked the idea of being bossed around by an alpha male submissive while the woman who owned both of us hovered in the background as a mostly unseen presence.

If a Mistress doesn't need to work, then she can handle a real stable...seven slaves at least, one for each day of the week. If the lady has a regular job, it would probably be hard to juggle more than three on a full time basis.

It's a very individual answer. Some folks can barely master themselves yet alone a harem of slaves while others can.

If the people involved fit, there's probably no maximum. But perfect fits are rare. Each relationship adds a layer of complexity, time needed, emotional drain, etc.

As for which forum this should go in, the answer is the poly forum. It's clearly a question about poly (unless the only answer she was willing to accept was "1").

Having yet to have my first 24/7 / TPE or whatever term you want to use for a live in slave, I cannot answer this with confidence, however I do feel that 2 is the right number. any more and you risk neglect.

I understand the situation. I agree one is enough for a loving committed slave Mistress relationship. I dont have that yet and know several slaves that arent seeking commitment but make statements about needing to be in the presence of Femdom/powerful women etc.. and having only occassional time to devote to service, they are service oriented slaves they come and do work sometimes in chains or whatever they like smell my feet and leave. They are helpful and respectful and I guess we give each other a small dose of what we need until we find a good fit.

As many as you can maintain in a fulfilled and balanced situation.

For many, even one is too many for where they are.

More than three in a 24/7 living situation is extremely rare to maintain for more than a few years.

Speaking for myself and my two submissive partners, a triad works pretty well for us. The boys can back each other up on tasks needing to be done, they have a comfortable friendship, and I split my time pretty well between them. This allows them both some quiet downtime to work on their own projects.

Adding someone else to the mix would be tough unless he was bisexual and equally or more so engaged with my primary partner. It's really a matter of time sharing, and I only have so much to share. My secondary whom I don't live with still gets enough of me and my time to feel happy and fulfilled, and my primary appreciates the downtime. Also we spend family social time with all of us together. That about fills my week, so I think if I went haring off to court another subby, other than as a friend and occasional play partner, I just wouldn't be able to spend enough quality time maintaining the relationship I have.

Totally monogamous here. I'm with those who said too many is more than me...

I've gotten a lot of flack for this by some within the community, but it's not just a preference; it's fundamentally who I am.

That being said, there are polyamorous people on the forums who've made it work; it might help to ask them.
