Nicely said! I was thinking what's lost due to circumcision is quite a bit less than what's lost going on and on about circumcision.

Being circumcised of heart, as I interpret Saint Paul, means being inherently a good person for having a conscience. It is what Paul said, and in my opinion he was a supergenius - and in my opinion in this case he was right.

That doesn't make sense to me... It would read: it is better to be inherently a good person for having a conscience, than to be circumcised of the flesh.

Seems to me it would be referring to a cutting away of the heart.

It refers to exposing the heart The cutting away of the restraints of this earthly life to open the heart to the love and teaching of the lord.

Yes it is. But it has been my understanding that the passage Rule refers too is more about the flesh than the spirit. Basically, what Paul was trying to express is that all the cutting of the foreskin would not guarentee anyone a place in heaven ~ that was the belief of the time, that without circumcision of the flesh, one could not enter heaven ~ without the circumcision of the heart. It was Paul's belief that the heart would carry far more weight than the other, and rightly so.

Saint Paul implies that being circumcised of the heart has nothing to do with cutting away flesh. It means that the Law is written in the heart, in the soul, of a person, instead of in a book as is necessary for those who do not have a conscience.

Well, if he was a supergenius, then he was justified in being megalomaniacal. I am a supergenius myself and have reason to assume that by divine decree I am entitled to rule all of humanity - and perhaps some alien species as well.

As for Saint Paul being a homophobic misogynist, that probably is a consequence of him being a member of the homophobic misogynist Abrahamic Jewish population that he was born in.
