Again, a pretense rather than a read of the post.

I see you're having one of your don't-want-to-be-smart days. Enjoy the fantasy.

Of course it's done by both parties.

And granted, that doesn't make it lily white either.

Well put, Tim. Let's hope they had the necessary skills to apply the whitewash very well in that report. It's the cover up that gets them.

in 1981, the Reagan administration reportedly offered former California Sen. S.I. Hayawaka a job in the administration in exchange for not seeking re-election.

Except there isnt even a claim of an exchange in the "report". But then the media that matters to Media Matters is whatever they can blow up your ass.

What are you talking about?

It seems to me the identical situation.

Improper? Probably. Illegal? Probably technically not. Done all the time by both parties? Sure. A contradiction for the administration? Granted.

That's about it in a nutshell.

I didn't like it when Reagan did it, but I accepted that that was just how politics works sometimes and I didn't consider it an ethical breach.

I didn't like it when Bush and Cheney did it with the Minnesota senate race a few years ago, but I accepted that that was just how politics works sometimes and I didn't consider it an ethical breach.

I feel pretty much the same now that Obama's doing it too.

Not at all. By "endless" you mean "just this time."

You aren't reading. Right from the start I led with --

1) this is improper
2) this is a contradiction for the administration

Now, that it's hardly a unique practice is no great secret. You want to play naive, fine. Yes, the burden of proof would be on me if I cared enough to bother; that I don't doesn't prove anything either, just leaves the question open. Deny it if you will.

What you're missing is this (also a point I made up front) --

3) that it's been done before (or, for the naive among us, even if it had been done before--you see, doesn't matter for this argument) is irrelevant. It still leaves the administration caught in a contradiction and an improper act, even if it turns out technically legal.

Have you mastered that much finally? You sure? Good. Now we can move to WHAT MY POINT ACTUALLY WAS --

Ready? All set? Got that other stuff past you yet?

Sestak was an idiot to believe he could trumpet this and not get bit in the end.

That was it. See the difference?

If you've anything to share on that, great. What is it? 'Cuz for the rest, you're talking to yourself.

Yes, exactly. Especially after promising to be open.

Like Panda, it's just not something that rises above other issues to anything I care about much. Things are what they are.

From the news broadcasts it's becomming more obvious that some type of "coverup" was done!
It's going to be a long ride back to the U.S. from Israel for Rahm Emmanuel on Air Force whatever the number is.
I assume they have the phones encrypted on those planes.

Are there any short flights from Israel to the U.S.?

I believe they are all rather lengthy.

Has Howie Carr ever mentioned the average length of a flight from Israel to the U.S.? If he hasn't I imagine you have no idea how long such a flight might be.

Rahm might as well get what rest he can on the plane, Popeye. He's not coming home to a relaxing weekend. People are already crawling around the cracks in this story. The offer they claim to have made is roughly equivalent to offering a junior partner in a law firm an internship to keep him from pursuing senior partnership. It just doesn't make much sense.

Skipping Arlington is going to feed the news cycle as well, on Monday.

That's what doesn't make any sense whatsoever, why would someone offer someone who's running for *senator* an unpaid "advisory" position?
Who in their right mind would accept that in that position? Something's rotten in Denmark and on top of that Bill Clinton a pathological liar and sociopath is now involved in it.
It seems that a "job" was offered but now someone is lying about which "type" of job and that it was probably a *paid* position.

White House press release states: "On Monday, the President will participate in a Memorial Day ceremony at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Also on Monday, the Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden will host a breakfast for Gold Star Families at the White House. Afterwards, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery." Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery is dedicated as a national cemetery within the VA's National Cemetery Administration

1983: Reagan attended summit meeting; Defense Department official Thayer laid wreath at Arlington
1992: George H.W. Bush allowed VP Quayle to lay wreath
2002: George W. Bush spoke at commemoration in Normandy.(ie wasnt at Arlington)
Veterans Day 2007: Cheney attended ceremony to pay tribute at Arlington as Bush remained in Texas.

Yes, let's focus on these dire issues so we can bring the government to a standstill the same way the GOP did when Clinton got a blow job.

Deja vu.

If they are incompetent to keep this from blowing up in their faces, that is not my problem.

In fact, concern that they would prove incompetent is why I chose not to support the candidacy.

Run along, RML.

No, what it's about is the scorched Earth strategy the GOP developed during the Clinton administration and unfortunately had some degree of success with.

If you recall, I did predict that it would be resurrected if Obama won the Presidency.

And lo and behold, we already are having the conservative talking heads on Fox advocating impeachment.

According to Eliott Spitzer well known for his prosecutorial ability this is going nowhere because there is not enough evidence.

The talking heads are going to run with it. That is their nature. I don't think the Repubs in Congress should try and overplay the hand. Let the guy with hope and change get a nice black eye over it, and let it go.
