Status: offline 		I want a (lifestyle and otherwise) sub (or even switch) who is powerful in essentially every other aspect of his life. As a teen, I often fantasized about saddling and riding then-President Clinton around. I've also had very vivid fantasies involving Paul Krugman, Brian Williams (the journalist) and Javier Bardem (the actor. Not so much in power, but his presence....)

I'm aware that many women are attracted to powerful men. I'm not even sure such men exist and if they do, I'm sure they would finesse most otherwise vanilla women into this arena. It's one thing to have a partner dominate you only because they want to please you. It's quite another to find a partner who is actually interested in it to serve.

How common is this... fetish? Do you have this preference?

I'm told that lawyers are overrepresented in the BDSM community which makes sense, but they don't particularly appeal to me and I don't consider them powerful.

I'm sure such men aren't sitting around somewhere waiting to be found though and they probably don't actively seek it out. Maybe the occasional pro-domme. Sigh.

Addendum: This has nothing to do with money, though money and power often go hand-in-hand. There is nothing at all appealing about dominating an incredibly affluent heir. The sort of power that is handed over on a silver platter or that is gained only through money... nope, no tingles. There's probably something about ambition that get the juices flowing.

I know it's not usually in good form to post from one's journal, but I'm going to just post a snippet as it really expresses how I view the matter:

A strong submissive man is enthusiastic and proactive. He learns to interpret his Lady's cues and anticipates his Lady's needs.

If I think of him as my bodyguard, he has to be strong and confident to protect me and keep me safe.

If I think of him as my assistant, he needs to be sharp, alert, on his toes to follow my lead and support me.

I find I have either found them in the realm of BDSM or I have converted a few willing vanilla men in the past. I've found the latter to be a lot of effort without always all the payoff so I'm exclusively looking in the BDSM realm.

It actually came in 9th grade, coach called me the "800 lb gorilla on the field", meaning I was unstoppable that day (I came away with 5 sacks and 12 total tackles).

Status: offline 		Yes, there are some lawyers out there, though I have to say it's a little more common to find folks in engineering, the medical field, and certainly the military.

I tend to find subs very easily in the BDSM community.  That's just My personal experience.

Status: offline 		It's entirely possible to find high powered alpha subs. IMO you have to hunt in realtime venues, not online, I have found that it is far to easy to misrepresent oneself online. (By that I mean interesting poster can be damn dull when he has no time to pre-think what he says!)

Well, athletes don't necessarily embody these traits. Yes, it's a bonus if someone has a more domineering (?) presence and physical strength than I. There's something about looking up and yanking them down (by the shirt or tie) for a kiss, a ride or whatever else... As a tall, not petite girl, I sadly don't come across these types often though personality see aforementioned traits) is far more important.

The gym rat/bodybuilder look is disgusting though and BBM (?) don't do it for me either.

I wouldent say "domineering" is the correct word. I can look physically imposing (Im not, Im actually a big teddy bear most of the time lol).

I used to think that "powerful" was a good word to describe the kind of "alpha" type I thought I wanted, but then I came across a lot of men that were trying way too hard to be domineering, a bully, or arrogant - and they played it up as much as possible. Or they tried to be a "challenge," and when it became annoying because it was so melodramatic, I lost interest and then they came simpering back begging to be dominating, stating that the whole "I'm a cocky asshole," thing was a shtick and really they were a 'sissy' - and it was very uncomfortable.

What I have found is that I am attracted to *capability*.  This can come in a lot of different forms, and it does not translate into being the total alpha male or the big macho type. It means a man has quiet confidence.  Beyond that, it can be capability in any area.  I find that my level of lust gets ratcheted up the more capable a man is - in any field.   It can be playing a musical instrument (if he's a musician on stage and getting paid for it, even moreso, because then he's truly capable), a professional athlete, (again, because he's recognized as the elite of his realm), etc. Even to a lesser degree it can pique my interests -- someone who is a good golfer, can fix a car with his bare hands, whatever.

Any areas with decent job prospects for overeducated people, nice BDSM scene and a good supply of potentially kinky powerful men


Again, I desperately need to get out of this place. I feel suffocated.

DENVER!  Oh, and they don't have to drool.  A knowing glance, a subtly passed "business" card..... yum!  I have two cards - business and personal.  Crop NOT necessary.  LOTS of folks on the 16th street mall.  My leather jacket is WAAaay distinctive and gets the kind of reaction I'm looking for.

Actually, it's how I carry myself.

I've always said "The best subs are the RL powerful ones."  When he's making million dollar decsions, affecting hundreds or thousands of people, what better way to release the tensions than to present oneself to a Dom/me with the command "Strip! I will tell you what to do."

Give me the CFOs, the CEOs, the Judges (you can have the lawyers - unless corporate, even then there's a creepy factor that I don't like), the Engineers, the Architects, the Chemists and Computer guys. (You can HAVE Bill Gates.... for all his $$$, how he got there is disgusting.  DOS and other Micro-Soft products tell a whole lot about his personality.  I wouldn't give him time-of-day.  But I digress.)

The higher on the decision level tree, the more likely they are to need the relief that we as Dom/mes can give.
