ORIGINAL: jbcurious [...] The girl at 19 would have had little more then a high school education, so a few piercings or tatoos isn't what's standing in the way of her getting a decent job...she doesn't seem to have much in the way of family support...so what kind of up bringing has she had that has left her in the position she finds herself in? It's so easy to sit in judgement of others who may not have been blessed with a good upbringing, a decent level of intellect or a good education. jb, what you have said here is generally correct, but the OP is not wrong either. I think he is balls on accurate, although I may have worded it a little different myself. It has been pointed out that people are focusing too much on the specifics of being a single mother, which was never the intent of the OP, rather than on the age, tats, piercings, and single motherhood being a symptom of a much larger problem, as you pointed out here and I think the OP would agree with. I think most people on this thread are being disingenuous at best, hypocritical at worst. The OP never made a blanket statement against single motherhood, the people responding and taking offense to him did. If you remove the specific example of single motherhood and add a little decorum and finesse, you would have this recent post by AnimusRex: http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=3221382 I didn't see anyone giving Mr. Rex shit about this, notwithstanding the fact that he was also balls on accurate. A little advice to the OP - please use more decorum and finesse the next time you come out here to make a point. ps - I am also an ex welfare single mom, who later became a Microsoft executive (I'd be happy to prove it to anyone who might think me full of shit). I consider myself to be a strong advocate for single mothers, and I didn't take offense to anything the OP said.
