1)  If someone wants to see you, they'll ask.  If you want to, you can show them.  It's a nice system.

2)  Please understand that I say this with a sense of soothing, tender affection.  You're a total spazz.  Having a picture up will give you a whole new set of things about which you can spazz out flamboyantly.  I can already see the threads of "OMG why are guys looking at my picture?"  "Guys someone keeps looking at my picture and I think they might be someone I know incognito and they might turn me in to the anti-kink secret police in my homeland!"  "Guys look at the mole on my right arm in this picture.  Is it bigger than in the picture before it?  Should I go to the doctor???"

Good pictures can draw people in.  Pictures posted by people who are comfortable with posting pics here can be a good way to get a better sense for what the person is really like.  For you, I'm afraid posting a pic of yourself would only lead to sweaty palms, sleepless nights, and sudden fitful midday panic attacks in which you become convinced you're going to go the way of Josef K.
