A portion of threads are repeats or recycled topics.   At times threads may blend- carry over.

Time and place change.   Peoples moods change.  Would we really want a perfect bot thread all the time?  I doubt it.

I don't know pahunkboy.

This is a BDSM message board. I come here to talk about BDSM and you come here to talk about conspiracy theories. I'm not saying that I have more of a right to this place than you, not even a bit. But please, spare me the *maybe CM might not be right for you* bit. It's really lame.

People evolve.  What is fun this year- may or may not be of interest next year.  Everything is fluid.

The thing is GreedyTop, I figure this is a public message board for people who seem to have one thing in common: an interest in kink. Whether they have a 1% interest in kink or a 100% interest in kink is not the issue.

The thing is this, I think one should feel they can start any topic they want on there, that is why we have so many forums. But the thing is, people should respect topics others want to discuss. I've always thought that if a topic doesn't interest someone, the mature thing is to move to another topic, not go on the thread and take a dump on it.

But more importantly, my response to pahunkyboy was just questioning a comment from someone who dares tell me that maybe this site is not for me.

The only person who will determine if this site is for me or not, is me.

I don't think it's a "lately" thing. I've been on here for 6 years now and there are some people here who have as much or more time here who have 1,000's of posts....and not one of them has been about BDSM....or to discuss a relationship they are in....or a relationship that they'd like to be in.

I haven't been able to post here in over a year with any kind of regularity due to a computer issue I had but...I did read the boards here during that time. There are a few people here that have kind of taken over the boards who seem to have no agenda here other than to be smart assed and snarky and to derail threads. Sad.

But the fact is this site is not for everyone. It couldn't be and doeasn't need to be.

On top of that, if you compare it to any of the other.... lets say 3 kink sites, this one compares very favorably.

This is similar to the, " there are many people who are afraid to post here because everyone is mean" posts.

Why should I care if somone is afraid..... it is a web site... are people so frail and damaged?

Oh well, not my job to fix them. If I derail and the mods don't like it..poof, my post is gone.

I can handle that.

In my case, between my 2 profiles (the old one, Phoenix73Sir and this) I still very much consider myself as "breaking in" to the established community on this board.   The way I do this in RL is to be witty, amusing and then find the gap in the subject being discussed and make my serious points, ask questions or whatever.

It takes time to earn the level of respect that a good many users on this board enjoy. While I realise this I DO have to make a start somewere and I do this in the best way I know how.  Trolls are there to be enjoyed as it although annoying, DOES help to strengthen the community as people band together to either bash at worst or educate at best here.

I READ a lot more threads than I post in, while I understand no-one has a "right" answer, usualy by the time i have read everyones POV, I come away with a general consensus on any given topic.  I try not to intentionaly bash those who are trying to help, although sometimes my ignorance of a certain topic has led to me getting bashed.  That is simply the nature of a forum.  I often will reply in an attempt to clarify my statements but find engaging in a flame war is counter productive as in the end, it leaves you feeling unwelcome simply for your poor knowledge AND the fact that you end up de-railing the thread with what are in the end, pointless squabbles with an unknown person.

Sure. healthy constructive debate is never a bad thing, but I have seen many many threads turn into nit picking over semantics (and extremely LONG nit-picks at that) which serves no-one but the posters involved and their own egos.

I may annoy some.. if that is the case I sincerely apologise but like most, I am simply here to 1) broaden my thinking and outlook and 2) enjoy the feeling of a community of like minded people.

Sounds like I'm defending myself... which I am not.  simply stating my position.  In time I hope to be one of those respected users, but Life to me is about fun, enjoying the company of others and the fluid nature of conversation. and by that very nature no conversation ever stays on  its original topic. it moves, evolves and follows the path that the majority wish it to and hopefully is amusing and fun along the way
