There's a line in Ghostbusters that goes somethiing like:

"I've been to the real world. They want results there"

Many of us warned of the utter foolishness of hiring a man with no executive experience, no real legislative experience, zero history of getting things done in a bipartisan manner. Some/many/most of those who ignored those arguments even though they should have known better are coming around. Even some who fell as deeply and inexplicably into the Botank asPeggy Noonan.

I think she often has an insightful and persuasive style. Further, I rejoice at any and every one who begins to turn away from, to confront, and to politically destroy this pathetic occupant of the White House (yes, before you mention it, I am aware I lack some of Ms Noonans charm).

You are free to read the piece, or not. You are free to care. Or not.

Well it happened when he was in office, so it must be his fault right?

So a couple of ugly buildings getting knocked over in New York was Bush's fault not Clintons?

I personally assign him little responsibility (like none) for the explosion, for the spill, for the exttreme difficulties in stopping it.

But the cavalier, slow, and inadequate response topside? The endless fuckups (building enviromental impact statements instead of berms, et al ad nauseum). He owns that.

Wait'll oil washes up in Miami and he tries to run for re-election in Fl. If he bothers to run for re-election at all.

Only if you are stupid enough to blame everything that happens on whoever happens to be in office. You do understand sarcasm right?

I do, but without wishing to cause offense, it's often impossible to tell whether some of the Americans in here are taking the piss or not.
(Giving ts's comment, I suppose Katrina would have been a better comparison in any case.)

Ignoring the rest of the foolishness in your post, please explain to me what "executive experience" John McCain has ever had.

There has never been a President elected to his first term who had Presidential experience.  And not too many VPs are elected to Pres nowadays - before GHW Bush, the previous one was LBJ IIRC (Ford was defeated in his reelection bid).

Obama's had a lot on his plate and seems to be handling things just fine.  I disagree with a lot of things, but I don't see lack of experience as an issue.

Ignoring that you ignored the rest of the runon sentece from which you snippetted, the only executive experience on either side of that sorry ballot was owned by Gov Palin.
Unless you think running the inside of the Hanoi Hilton counts for something.
Which I certainly do, even though I'm not a big McCain guy. "My guy" went out early, and probably won't be back.

I think you're in, or soon will be in, the minority there. The clueless amateurishness of this administration is getting hard to ignore.

Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Johnson... all had executive experience. Ford and Obama, not so much (unless Ford had some I can't recall or never knew of).

"There has never been a President elected to his first term who had Presidential experience"

True, but all those elected to their second term did.

You do realize Palin was voted Governor in 2006. And that she quit in mid 2009. I would hardly think this makes her an expert in anything Presidential. Her words and actions since she was chosen as a running mate for McCain have spoken volumes though.

JFK and Lincoln had no executive experience, according to this link

Im not sure what your point is here.

And you're right. It's hard to imagine the education and life experiences that render one truly "qualified" for the Presidency. Other than, simply, character. Or acting
And so am I- hers was the only executive experience on the ticket.
Care to make the argument that "community organizing" makes one "an expert on anything Presidential"?

No but perhaps my follow up post makes that a moot point.

Yet Lincoln had no experince. Neither did JFK. Both were leaders in the true sense of the word. Both achieved amazing things during their presidencies, unless im recalling history wrong.
