FR: No one here has answered popeye's question about funding, and none on the left wish to actually engage him in a calm, educating discussion about "community organizers'. Like so many "liberals" I know, they don't see an opportunity for education, or conversion. They see an opportunity to cry "racism!" and bask in the glory of their superior moral rectitude and "greater intelligence". What utter horseshit. "Community organizing" in the abstract is based on the simple concept of helping the disadvantaged and is morally justifiable and a needed aspect of any large diverse society. The problem is the cockroaches in the cracks. Martin Luther King may be classified as a "community organizer" and I won't argue the point. And he was an honorable man, on a worthy mission. Saul Alinsky was a "community organizer", and the godfather of many "progressive" community organizers, who's agenda and methods I think are less admirable. Obama comes out of the Alinsky school of community organizers. ACORN comes out the the Alinsky school of community organizers. Many of the current crop of "community organizers" come from the Alinsky school of "community organizing", and receive overt funding from the Federal Government, and from "progressive" organizations, whose overall goals are questionable to some of us. The wiki article on community organizers has some interesting information, some that I find creditable, some that I don't, but you can trace the thread of the fact that many organizations are interested in using methods of "community organization" which inherently uses Alinsky tactics of force and conflict to achieve often larger political goals, that have little to do with a local "community". They are interested in a basic reordering of American society. While I know that my "liberal brethren" will likely attack me in all kinds of ways, and not read my actual words, this isn't always a bad thing, and sometimes may be a necessary thing. But the combination of far leftist radical politics and views which are counter to an open and free society are all too often camouflaged and conflated with morally justifiable claims of sainthood and moral superiority. This poisons the concept of "community organizers" to many who can distinguish the good from the bad. That is why "community organizer" as a name and a concept is besmirched for a large part of the US population. Because of Alinsky's concepts, and the adoption of many anti-democratic views have darkened the moral high ground that the "liberals" wish to assign to the concept. You call popeye a "racist" for voicing valid concerns and issues to the forums, because you are more interested in being "right" than you are in actually growing and providing the type of society you claim to wish to bring into existence. Ive been a community organizer of one kind or another since I was 30..I didnt respond to Popeye, because of his attitude and obvious disdain to actually aquire knowledge...fuck that who needs bullshit from him or anyone . I didnt know I had to answer every question that came up [:-]

I did take the OP to be about black people, partly due to previous comments where Popeye has made barely concealed racist comments, such as saying Obama`s Auntys name sounded Muslim, or that Obama was a closet Muslim. Or the constant use of the term ragheads. So please spare me the nonsense about "liberals" and the chance to educate.
