Help!! My butt is already suffering and biking season is just starting. Bicycles and sore butts...an age-old problem. What can I do to ease the pain my butt goes through? I do notice that with repeated riding it gets better but this one thing dogs me more than any other. I can deal with the sore legs and neck and arms but the sore butt drives me up a wall. I do have biking shorts with padding in the ass, they were the expensive ones too. I have a new bike from Oct of last year, a Fuji Absolute 2.0, I've not replaced any of the components like the seat yet. I do however have a memory foam seat cover over the seat to help out with the soreness.

I just started biking last year for the first time since I was a kid so I don't know much about it as a sport yet and don't have a lot of experience. My Dom and I did several 30-40 mile rides last summer and plan on doing more this year. He listens to my complaints about my ass on every ride, lol, I'd like to spare him the whining if I can this year. Poor guy.

So...anyone out there with any information on how I can ease the unwanted (really!) pounding of my bottom? I'm tired of being mistreated by my bicycle

Pick a nicer butt plug? HiccUP. Sorry.

You could try adjusting the seat. It is is too high or too low-- you wont get comfort.

Frequent stops and stretching will help. I finally gave up and just had a nice simple funeral for my butt. :)

I had a similar problem with my current bike.

The seat you have is most likely designed for the male butt, so it's narrow and shaped all wrong for us laydees. I splashed out on a wider seat, so that most of the weight of my body is NOT concentrated on the little girly bits and (to be somewhat coarse) the butthole, but spread out over a larger area, particularly the better-padded 'cheek' area. My seat is also gel-filled and has stronger springs for better shock absorption.

I also replaced the front fork of my bike for a fork with shock absorbers. It cost a bit, but sitting down is no longer a problem after even the longest bike ride!

And Jeffff....you got a one-track mind! Pervert

My lead pressman is an avid bicyclist. He does RAGBRAI every year in July. By the time it starts, he and his wife have over 1,000 miles of training in a few months time. They tend to ride 20-30 miles each night and 100ish each weekend.

I asked what to do for a sore butt. He said to make sure your bike fits you properly and keep riding.

Tee my darling.........I will stick to my 4 legged modes of transportation when not driving or riding a motorized bike. I have gotten a very sore butt from riding and yet no one has offered that massage.

Rule #1..........Do not ride a horse all day, while drinking, in shorts. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh the chaffing! Was the saddest looking pussy I have ever seen.
