Thanks guys...
No new doggie for a long while. Plus I have to get Shore's approval for a new beast.
No matter what he says, Shore really liked him and even walked him once.
And he liked Shore.

It's just strange and my home is so lonely.

I am soooo sorry to hear of your loss. The complete unconditional love we get from our pets is amazing.  My Viktor was in ICU all of last week (poisoning, but thankfully pulled through) and I never realized how empty my little apartment could feel.

Sending hugs your way...

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my 17 year old cat in March and the 13 year old cat isn't well either.

An absolutely beautiful dog. I am so sorry for your loss. They are always with you even though you cannot see them. They are in your heart and thoughts and nothing can ever take that away from you.

Draw comfort in that he isn't in pain and he went peacefully.

Hugs...

I lost my parrot this year.  I Still- think I should hear him.

Having my cat-- helps.   Every pet I ever have is much smarter then the datable men.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your much loved furry guy. It's not easy to say goodby to those who we love and are loved by unconditionally.

so sorry for your loss hon....it hurts so bad losing furbabies, but gawd its so awesome the goodness they bring to us while theyre here.

hope your kids are ok......when we had to have my 14 yo furbaby put down, my son was heartbroken.  the worst thing for me was standing in the laundry room, watching him bury razor, while tears rolled off his chin.

i do think it takes time to reach that moment when a new puppy dog feels right.  you have to let go of the friend youve lost first or it wouldnt feel right and the feelings arent right for the new guy in youre life.

i still cry over animals i lost years ago - i just miss them all - in fact it was a couple of days ago my son found me crying and he asked me why and i had to confess i was having a blue moment for an animal we'd lost nearly ten years ago now.

so im really with you on this - its just painful and theres no short cut -

but i think it does help to know that youre lovely fella there had a great life and was loved and he loved you and you had a great time together.  im facing the same thing with my 14 year old collie dog right now - she's getting to the point where im asking myself if its fair to keep her going - it just sucks all round.

hugs . xx

Many dogs are smarter then men.

Both take up space-  but a dog is actually useful.

I still think that I have to walk him....

A new puppy helps a lot. When you're ready.

Can only second Tim in that...and sorry to hear about your loss....he looked like a gorgeous dog....as others said, it might help to look at the great moments you had with the dog...also maybe it helps to be glad about how long he could stay with you...that's at least how I manage the grief I have in regards to dearest human I lost, to consider myself lucky that she was for such a long time active part of my life....

and don't think you will lose him in general...you won't...I am convinced that one of our previous cats is still around my parents house...because strangely the last 2 cats ended up by my parents both times in exactly the same way, right after they had lost their cat...

when they lost a cat some years ago they said, no more cat for now...but well, that didn't last long, as then it happened that a cat three villages far away got stuck underneath a car from her owners (she had crawled into something, whatever is down there) and then went off down there with that car, as her owners hadn't realised that their cat is unvoluntarily travelling with them in that car and at our GP that cat had enough from that ride and jumped off...the GP finding that cat then in turn asked my parents to take her, as they aren't a cat family and as their nurse knew my parents had just lost their cat...now....funny story in general, however, once that cat passed away it happened again exactly the same way...my parents said again, no more cat the next while, but that was again quickly overturned...this time a person catched a feral cat and her 3 kittens and went as well....what a surprise...to our GP again...asking if they know someone who might take a cat or two...so again, their nurse thought about my parents who "just" lost their cat...and yes, that cat ended up there...again...soon followed by her sister as these people visited my parents again, saying that they thought my parents had lost that cat wanting it to bring it back to them... where my mum told them they have their cat (they look exactly the same, though now they have a difference in size and only one of them is pure black, the other is a bit brown in sunlight...but they have the few white spots at the same areas)...

now...it just feels sometimes as if a previous cat would interfere in spirit in that way as they never had cats coming along there before, we aren't local either in that village, more on the side of it and it is just weird that both times it happened right after they had lost their cat and both times the same way via the GP...almost as if a previous cat would want to make sure that my parents are kept happy with continuing to have a cat and also to help other cats to have a good home there...

Very well said...gives me now even more reason to go for two dogs once I move :o)

So far I only had the defence "as more I know about men as more I love my cats!" ...
