awww...I'm sure you do. I would toss cliches your way, but I'm sure only time will ease this for you. I am sorry Aileen.

Sympathies, Aileen. Every time I've lost an animal, I've thought (at the time) it's not worth it. :(

Truth is, it's always worth the years of reciprocal unconditional love and companionship. Who else treats you this way? ...Except for Shorebound and the punching/throatfucking, which is the same thing, in his own way...

Shorey is in Cleveland for business this week which is good timing because I have no desire for him to see me this teary eyed.

I thought he loved that look on you!

Still, he's probably teary-eyed too, since he's in Cleveland.

No one wants to see that.

I'm sorry to hear that.

We just never get to keep them long enough, do we, Aileen? (Unless it's that bad tempered little lap dog somebody dumps on you when a great aunt or so dies, and the awful yapping piece of shit just lingers for years and years and refuses to die.)

Coming up on a year since I lost the best dog ever. I still miss him.

Hugs. Every dog I've had, I mourned. Each is special in a different way.

I really feel for you. I have always had dogs and the heart breaking part is that they will one day leave us. If it's any comofrt I don't believe that they leave you for long. I had a wonderful dobermann bitch for eleven years and she had pups along the way, finally ending her days as an adored old lady on my sofa.
I now have her great grandaughters. one of whom is exactly like her and bonded with me almost as soon as her eyes opened. She is the same destructive, arrogant, aloof, bad tempered cow her great grandmother was.
The love a dog gives you is like money in the bank, you can still draw on it, after the dog is no longer there, a weird analogy, but it's the closest I can get to describing it.

I once read a beautiful piece of prose stating that we're all given a certain amount of love to give and we die once we finally run out. The reason dog's lives are so short is because they give that love out so quickly, so easily, and so beautifully. It brought tears to my scaly eyes.

That's the first time a Raptor genuinely brought tears to my eyes - I love the sentiment, TRJ!

Oh, fuck, man, I lost my Smitty a month ago. He was a rescue dog, a Shih-Tzu, and I only had him for two years, but I grew to love him. I still haven't gone to pick up his ashes yet. I start crying whenever I think about it. I haven't been eating right, or sleeping right, or taking care of myself. He was my best friend. Hugz.
