Status: offline 		The only thing I haven't seen here (and there is plenty of good advice, thats for sure) is to leave someone with his number as well, you never know what could happen, and any way to increase the chance of friends contacting is usually a good one. Hope you have a good time!

Well, I probably will, but this is quite biologically unlikely to get you pregnant.  Unless we do something really fancy with mad science, like in the movie Splice.

I am indeed in California, but I was under the impression that our local PP chapters charged for condoms. Is there a secret I don't know about?



The California Department of Public Health has a Public Health or STD Clinic somewhere in your area.

All Public Health STD clinics offer free condoms, and sexually active residents can also acquire them by calling the Public Health STD Hotline at 1-800-758-0880. The hotline also provides referrals to low- and no-cost clinics for STD testing and treatment.

Most of the gay bars I've been to have condoms on the bar. Although, it is kinda tacky to go into a bar, take a condom and leave without at least buying a drink. Not sure which is cheaper, bar drink or small pack of condoms.

Anyway, to answer you. I've done all the wrong things, and all the right things and oddly enough, the only time I was harmed was when I did all the right things. Still, I'd advocate taking the safety precautions anyway. Just so you realize, most precautions aren't really to keep you safe but rather to fasciliate an investigation if something goes wrong.

Now that we have the disclaimers out of the way. Have fun.

Try and remember that you are meeting a person for the first time. No matter how many texts you've shared, or emails, he's still a stranger. An individual that it is definitely OK to not want, desire or have any interest in submitting to. Sometimes it is easy to fall into the people pleaser mode, and do what you feel is expected of you. Not sure if that is the case with you, but if it is, then remember that it is ok - in fact it is IMPORTANT - that you keep in mind that you are under no obligation to 'serve" this stranger you are meeting for the first time. Unless you want to.

Hmm, did I mention have fun? That's important too.

I used to email my bff with all the information I had about the guy plus where we'd be and any other pertinent info on things before the date. One of my dates told me that a woman he'd been out with took a picture of his license plate and text messaged it to her girlfriend, I thought that was pretty clever. I don't tend to be too overlycautious and have probably taken some stupid risks when I shouldn't have. Someone I know from here went on a meeting and was raped as a result, after knowing that this happened to her if I were ever single again I'd be much more cautious and perhaps be taking pictures of license plates.

My major downfall is trying to please people. If I can be so bold as to offer advice I'd just like to say don't do anything you don't feel like doing, and take it slowly. I could have benefited myself from doing things this way a time or two. He may be sold on you but you get to make that decision too and your time table may be different.
