Churchill was keen to have a coalition government so that the Tories wouldn't be held solely culpable if Britain lost the war, as I'm sure you know. He had to offer Chamberlain something over that.

Germany never desired a war with britian because for many reasons it was one that they could never hope to win and would give nothing of value if they did. France, the low countries and scandanavia were shields against britt interference with germany's goals. That goal was the soviet union. Churchill wrote a book in six volumns about wwII. He footnotes it extensively and the notes tell a much clearer picture of what was going on than the prose itself.

They also reveal a fair bit about his agenda in writing it. It's an excellent book, but it's also his interpretation of events, whenever he strays away from describing events into suggesting why they happened.

Ok, I'm confused. I thought Rahm Emmanual took control of the Evil Haliburton Weather Machine when Bush left office. I mean couldn't Rahm now use the Weather Machine for the forces of good. To generate a reverse hurricane Katrina and blow the oil slick out into the Atlantic where it would dissipate or something...Instead of using the the Evil Haliburton Weather Machine to exterminate all the low income black people in NOLA like Cheney did? Besides, metrosexual is so '00s. BTW, there were 2 sets of controls to shut valves on the BOP: one was hydraulic, and one was electric. Both failed when the riser collapsed. The first ROV on scene was sent to manually activate the valves by injecting hydraulic fluid but that attempt failed. 'Twas on Discovery Channel last night.
