Why use propganda, fear, and igornance to create fear and justify abuse and killing of these animals? Why not resolve the real issue which is the owners not the animals. Why not admit that the media rarely tells the stories of abuse or neglect that these animals suffer or rush to the presses if it another breed of dog.


That didn't answer the question.  It seemed that there was minimalization of the issue of human fatalities.  I was asking how many are acceptable.

Status: offline 		Death is part of life, I'm not making light of it but its true. I dont think any deaths should happen b/c of irreposnible pet owners or irresponsible parents or irresponsible drivers or irresponsible humans in general but they ALL happen.

I love pit bulls, but will be the first to say that a human aggressive pit should be put to sleep, for both the safety of humans and the good of the breed. It is dogs and owners like this that cause the headlines so many base their opinion of pit bulls on.

I'm mistaken? LOL, hardly. How many pits have you worked with, Domi? How many have you trained, rescued, known, hung out with? I worked with rescues and trainers specializing in the breed for years.

Is the breed as a whole dog aggressive? Yep. The level of animal aggression varies from none to quite a bit, depending on the individual. With most, it is manageable with proper training, socialization, and desensitization. You will note that there are many pit bulls in both the show ring and dog sports. Do you really think that they would be allowed if not properly trained? Do you think the owners wrestle them, snarling and growling, past other dogs into the show ring or event area? Nope.

True, even Poodles and Dachshunds were originally bred as hunting dogs, and they tend to get hysterical if they're confined for too long. First dog that ever bit me was cute little Cocker Spaniel, damn near took my nose off.

Domi will be happy to know that Chihuahua's were apparently originally bred as an alternate emergency source of protein.

As for aggressive breeds, Chows are notoriously aggressive towards anyone they have not been bonded with very early on, and were possibly bred for that purpose, just like a Heeler cannot help but herd anything in sight, including children, by nipping at their heels.

I've seen Heelers try to herd Horses, and go right back to it after getting knocked unconscious by getting kicked in the head, you can't break them of it.

Status: offline 		That was terrifying certainly, and like you I don’t blame the dog. I blame the owner. Here in the UK we have had several children killed by dogs. Offenders tend to be Rotweillers, Pitbulls etc.

We now have the dangerous dogs act. It is against the law to own or keep certain breeds. The police will take your dog away if there is any doubt and have it looked at. If it is a pitbull . it will be destroyed. Other breeds must be muzzled at all times. We seem to have a one strike policy towards dogs in general. If someone is attacked and seriously injured, the dog is destroyed.

I am interested in the people who keep these dogs. Some of them live in crime ridden areas, the dog is kept to confront burglars if they strike. I can understand these people. It’s the rest of them I don’t like.
