Creamy, you know I love you, but that's my point.

It has always been necessary to create a god to be responsible for all this shit.

Whether it is to explain an eclipse or why cancer kills children.

or why hos are icky.

I know you have to scrape up your roller dog money,

Fuck that shit. I suck the greasemonkey's cock and get my roller dogs for free.

In other words, rational faith is rooted in one’s own experiences, thoughts, observations, and judgments. Irrational faith, on the other hand, is the acceptance of something as true only because an authority or the majority say it is.

quote:

faith in our senses, faith in our reason, faith in our memories, and faith in the accounts of events we receive from others. Accordingly, faith is seen as essential to and inseparable from rationality.

These are pretty good examples. More along the same

faith that i will wake up in the morning, that i will still have a job, that the bus will be on time, that my restaurant will have customers, that my son adores me, that the cat will be waiting for me when i get home, that i remember what to do in a delivery of an infant, that i remember how to accurately take a blood pressure, that i can still start an IV, that i remember how to drive...

Those are alot of examples. Care to refute?

IMO it's the concept of "devil" that gives them that capability.

The inferiority of faith to atheism, under what yardstick are you measuring this?

For starters, how about the fact that we no longer live in the dark ages. The yardstick is called progress.

Oh... so you believe we are on some grand march forward through time?

edited to add, you should frame your answer carefully, because if you do not I will crush you in the jaws of your own logic

My moneys on brainiac.

Thank you, Elisabella. I didnt expect a response from her about the true reason for my post. I have learned over the years not many here will accept responsibility when they are wrong.

Such is the arena of debate, and obviously the way of brainiacs.

I am not here to trade insults with you. I wasn't trying to deny that some atheist on this thread did in fact call theists stupid. I was only trying to assert that the insult was not a strawman. If my intent wasn't clear the first time, I hope it is now.

That is not at all what she said....Can you fuckers not read?

Who said you could get off your knees?....I could use a lot more worshiping and a little less typing and yacking from the peanut gallery.

She said that studies have proven this assertion out. It might be off the the path of the debate but in itself it is not necessarily incorrect.

if you have a problem with the study you need to take it up with the researchers who conducted it....Now back to our regularly never ending discussion.

Dude this is the thing I take issue with:

quote:

As much as we object to the classification that religious people are inferior.

I don't know anyone who has made this claim. Another strawman, tazz.

Like I said, whether or not it's true is irrelevant. She claimed she knew nobody who said it and now she's saying it herself.

you are right!!!....Death to the God denying ho!!!!

We shall burn her at the stake and cast her soul into the eternal fires of Hell or perhaps into complete nothingness whatever the case may be.

Nonetheless she must burn!!!!

Tazzy, what I am saying is that what you present is a strawman arguement.  That is no different to the way someone suggested that all people who follow religion have lower IQs... again... strawman.  Again - it only shows that both sides of the camp are subjected to strawman arguements over and over and over...

Without getting into the point you're trying to make, (just to be fair) did an atheist actually write "all" or did they refer to a study showing a correlation between IQ and religion?

Nothing is really necessary though is it? Reality is reality. There are some truths that we may not grasp and there are some things we may think are truth to find out later not so much.

Time will reveal much more. Some folks seem more conscious than they really are, some folks think they are nice when in fact they arent. Some folks believe things that are closer to what is really going on than others. There is room for all of it and it is all finding it's right place. Scientific evidence predicts things are changing quite a bit. Believe what ever you want or dont want up to you. Being true to yourself is the best direction to take whatever that means to each individual.

Nor was my post about the insult being a strawman. It was intended as an insult, no matter how you view it. A false insult. Come on, 6 IQ point difference and this is what you are basing your superiority upon? Hell, i can drop 6 points when im pmsing. And if the same test is given to different countries, are we sure that no educational barries or vocabulary differences were in play? That seems to be a huge argument against that study.

BUT to insist that i was strawmanning is bullshit... no matter how you try and backpedal now.

Witch burning is old meme. I think an eternity spent in your company would be a better punishment.

Unless she repents - then all will be forgiven. A merciful goddess gets more worshippers than a just one. [8D]

To the contrary, everything we humans experience is determined by biology. When you can conveniently remember those cultures be sure to describe them carefully or I'll.....lmao.

ORLY is derisive for "Oh, Really"

I still think that whatever segment of the population that this book might possibly represent rather pales when we look at the totality of mothers that love and tend to their yung' uns.

My "credentials" can't possibly take a hit from a group that can't debate a topic without resorting to strawmen and semantics...something you have never once been able to avoid, except by posting meaningless links.
