Brain. Since you don't like DeMints voting record, what do you like about al Green's voting record ?

???

He may have a platform but he HAS no voting record.

You know, if there really is a strong anti-incumbency movement, he could stand a chance.  You can't vote for or against Greene's record, but you sure can vote for or against DeMint's.

Brain -> RE: A positive note about Alvin Green! (6/19/2010 8:25:55 PM)

Green can't be any worse, nothing to lose so give him a chance.

To do what exactly?

If this guy is elected it'll just be a blind "yes" vote for whatever his party is pushing at the moment. Do you really see this guy debating, raising questions, influencing legislation?

I guess the question is - would you rather have an incompetent idiot who agrees with you or a competent lawmaker who disagrees with you?

DCWoody -> RE: A positive note about Alvin Green! (6/19/2010 8:37:36 PM)

From how rejected by his party he seems, and his choosing not to attend their events, it's more than a little stretch to assume he'll automatically vote with party orders.

Then you have to explain where the filing fee came from. His explanation is fairly obviously untrue.

Your assumption is that he couldn't come up with the money himself.

Your "wink, wink, nod, nod" assumption is that he is a poor, dumb, black guy, and therefore couldn't have decided to do something like this himself.  He must be someone's puppet.

Typical liberal condescension to our African American citizens.

Firm

You're a fucking liar.

We all know the facts of the situation. The man has been unemployed since his discharge from the army. He needed a public defender for the felony charges he's presently facing. He has no assets nor any income stream and failed to file any of the required FEC reports on his spending (if he did any).

This smells fishy and everyone knows it.

charlestonscmilk -> RE: A positive note about Alvin Green! (6/19/2010 9:15:57 PM)

Ok, Kids, I am living in South Carolina. I am a Democrat, I am an African American and I worked the polls on Election Day.
I am also a past president of two well known civil rights organizations. I spend a lot of time working Democratic politics in this state and nobody I know, black or white voted for this man...
The polling station I worked had a few problems with the machines as in...
"I voted for Mr Smith but Mr Jones' name came up."
Stuff like that...
Yes I do live in a backwards, racist state, that consistantly ranks 49th or 50th in education in the nation. But even in this backwards state, I do not know of any African Ameiricans who thought that the singer AL Green was running, and I do not know anyone who voted for Mr Greene.
Even his barber did not know he was running for office.
He had no events, made no speeches, did not have a vote for Greene sign even in his own yard... he seems to have ONE campaign flyer produced after the media started sniffing around.

And as for his military service, he was DISCHARGED from the
Air National Guard
The US Air Force
And The US Army...
He claims it was honorable from all 3 and the military will not comment on him now according to news sources here.  I am betting it was general, other than honorable...
It is my understanding that the US Army  does not hand out bonuses if you are dis-invited to serve.
We are at an all time low for troop strength and readiness, yet 3 branches decided not to keep this man?
Four months after claiming to be an integent with no money for a public defender, he suddenly has over $10,000?!? And he was unemployed the whole time?
We have open primaries in this state. When you register to vote you do not register as a Republican or a Democrat you simply give enough info to prove whern you live and show you DL, so anyone could vote in either primary.
I do not know what happened. I do know that this is dirtier and fishier than usual.
However, a local politcal activist woman from Charleston, may choose to run and could possible defeat Jim Demint.
Just my thoughts...

Im sorry Firm I thought I could comment on any post I wished, I didnt realise I had to post on certain subjects.
could you please give me a list of those you would prefer me to comment on
When Ive watched this wood warp, Ill get right on that
stop back peddling, no one bought up his race, your suppositions and assumptions are bogus.
truly grasping at straws
funny man(NOT)

*shrugs*

I say fuck off with your liberal condescension, whiny, and smart ass comments.

However, you are allowed to comment how you wish, when you wish.

I will however, post how I wish, and when I wish.

Pointing out your "agreement by absence" to certain other posters' constant snide remarks and innuendos is perfectly within my rights.

Pointing out that your failure to mention how he received sufficient votes to win, and speculating on why you fail to mention it is perfectly within my rights.

Just put me on "ignore" if you can't stand the heat.

Firm

You really dont do very well with sarcasm do you,
shrugs

I was pointing out YOUR comments, not the lack of other comments and how I should respond  to them.. When you are ready to take your own advice , Ill take you seriously.
You were baiting, using the condescension crap and the race part too, because I called you on it, you have a hissy fit..

Brain -> RE: A positive note about Alvin Green! (6/19/2010 11:32:42 PM)

I’ve been involved in politics and learned it’s a numbers game – what counts is if you have the votes, not intelligence or eloquence. Green proved this himself by winning. It would be nice if he could draft legislation/debate but it’s not vital because there are many others who can do it.

What’s primarily important now is his vote. If he wins and votes like Dennis Kucinich in the House or with John Kerry/Al Franken in the senate he will be great; and I will take Green’s "gut instinct" over George Bush’s’ any day.

Do I really see this guy debating, raising questions, and influencing legislation? No, but we have enough other people to do this – Green won so we need to learn to deal with it in the best way possible.

Incompetent? He can learn and his winning proved he can get results, whether or not if he earned it. I’m beginning to think it was some 'clown' fucking with the voting machines though.

We need to appoint Ralph Nader to fix these voting machines.

TheHeretic -> RE: A positive note about Alvin Green! (6/20/2010 12:03:57 AM)

Milk, branch hopping within the armed forces isn't uncommon, and if you get the boot from one, it will reflect in your re-enlistment classification, and you won't be accepted by another.

I honestly don't care who might have put up the money for this. He got 59% of the vote and if you don't know anybody who voted for him, that merely suggests to me that you aren't moving in broad enough circles.

As I said when this thing first started breaking into the news, if the Republicans pulled this off as a "dirty trick," then let's put those guys in charge of getting us out of Afghanistan.

There is no "we," Brian. I understand your deep rooted sense of Canadian inadequacy, but when it comes to how my country conducts its business, your opinion counts for precisely zero.

Typical lefist bullshit.  Anyone who may disagree with you in the slightest is obviously morally corrupt, and you sling the "liar" term around without the slightest compunction, which just shows your changing the meaning of words to fit your own world view.

Attempt to discredit anyone that deviates in the slightest from the "party line", and claim that only you have "the truth".

You don't know shit.  I admit that I don't know much either.

But I'm willing to wait and let the facts come out.  I'd love to see a non-partisan investigation.  I'd love to see someone do the voter roll comparisons, check the voting machines, and look under his bed to see if he has more money hidden under there.

You, on the other hand, already "know the truth", and it's the "truth" that involves Republican shenanigans.  After all, they are evil, and everyone knows that only Democrats and Leftists hold the moral high ground.

Does it all smell "fishy"?  Yup.  We can agree on that.

But your "fishy" automatically makes all kinds of assumptions, while my "fishy" is about your assumptions.

Im british living in canada, I have fuck all to feel inadequate about. Nice try tho...look in a mirror with regards to condescending baiting and whiny comments.
The fact that it bugs the crap out of you that we furriners post, is more your issue than mine,
I tend to treat people the same way they treat me, its therefore doubtful you will ever get a "friendly response" I doubt either of us care.
Ive had enough of this BS take it to mail if you wanna carry this on, this is pointless, OR just ignore me .... the hissy fits should lessen
condescending enough for you??
