Status: offline 		Actually versions of these devices have been around for centuries. I was watching some history of sex thing on the History Channel (of course) where they were discussing, complete with pictures the various devices that have been submitted for patent through the years. They also discussed the devices that were made for young men to keep them from touching themselves.

So it's nothing new, but it is really sad that we live in a society where something like that would be necessary.

Status: offline 		I think things like rape, go hand in hand with the other human frailties of crime, murder, war etc, if we can't learn to stop wasting precious lives and resources in pointless governmental inspired wars, how can we be expected to rid crime, because the two are inextricably linked, except one is seen as necessary and acceptable because it is authority inspired and the other is those not in authority doing the very same, but it is called crime. Of course in war, crime as it is known to civilians is commited, but it is under the guise of war, where it becomes acceptable because it is war.

Status: offline 		They could just make an insertable device like a tampon, and if it is removed, you have to enter a 4 digit code in 20 seconds or else it will trigger an emergency response. To account for breakage, of the device immediately upon removal, it would transmit instantly upon removal, but not tag the transmitted information as an emergency, if the code is entered in time, if the unit was destroyed and the information was already transmitted, it would automatically trigger an emergency response.

You could even go one better, with the idea.... You could make the tampon like anti-rape device, spray out an invisible ink as well, if not deactivated in time or broken, that would only show under black light or something.

At that point, he is tagged, and better get to running, as the cops are on the way, he is marked, and the choice is either stay, or find a hinding place until the ink wears off.

No one responds to car alarms, it is doubtful they would respond to this alarm either...lol

Edited to add: Can you imagine it going off ramdomly, blaring a siren and people saying "Who has the vagina alarm sounding off?"

I guess I wasn't clear enough, the emergency response, would connect to the nearest wireless network, or cell phone tower, and transmit, a pure data response, not an audible alarm.

Granted for now, it would mostly be useful in developed countries. It wouldn't be a complex device to make, just a glorified basic strunk specialized cellphone with a proper case and coating, with a small ink pouch in it.

This device you are talking about...why would it need to be shaped like a tampon and be activated on removal? Why not just make it a button on a necklace that a woman can push or something? Who is doing th eremoving to activate it? The woman? The assailant? If it is the latter, do you realize how many women have had their tampons shoved deep inside of them by rapists? Also, what is the response time to your average 911 call? In South Africa? Would anyone respond at all?

Yeah, I guess the rapist wouldn't remove it probably.

My general thought is to dye the rapist, and send out an automatic 911.

The logic is if the rapist is marked his only hope of escape is to immediately run. As he needs to be out of the area before cops arrive. And if he knows he's marked I think he'd be less likely to kill, as he's already marked.

I suppose you could make it an necklace, or watch, or something.

Basically similar to like banks, do with robbers.

Edited to change explodes,as that conjures images of a violent explosion. Rather it disperses.

No, it disperses ink in a cloud, so, you could look for people walking around with ink splatter on them.
