I'e kept my profile hidden for several weeks now. When I click on my screen name or hit "view profile", etc. - even I get "profile not found". If I want to view or edit my profile, I have to unhide it. Just sayin'.

Thanks.  I thought I needed translation from Norh American to Britspeak  and/or from Cxxi to Cxx; but from Typonese to anything at all is very helpful.

And yes, I am indeed ancient.  It is said that 'you are as old as you feel', but I have applied for exemption from that rule.  No human being has ever made it to the age that I felt this morning.

Do a google search on this string:

"senior doctor" fotolia pink_candy

With quote marks and do your search on images only.  Fairly close...... let us know if this is your supposed Doppelganger.

ETA:  I'll remove the watermark from one of them.  BRB

And here you<?> are:

[image]http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af329/LanceHughes/Dr_Bill_1.jpg[/image]

hello Lance.

Well, I can't see that this friendly chap looks anything like me.  Vaguely similar shape of head; all-over beard; at least a decade younger, yet hairline much further eroded than mine.  And a seriously regrettable tie.

I did the Google search that you sugegsted, and found nothing to change my mind.  However,
I suppose we all suffer from this kind of blindness about our own faces.  What does anyone else think?  Could anyone -- such as the Original Miscreant -- have mistaken this fellow for me?

I'm sure we all such experiences.  In an Oxford pub 45 years ago, an American lady asked if I was the actor Peter Ustinov, who was at the time exactly twice my age.  My self-esteem was rescued by his daughter, who called from the next table that I was much nicer than her Dad.

And thank you for all the effort.

Another thing that crossed my mind as I was looking for "Senior Doctor" pics - that is NOT a USA term.  A hospital displaying staff photos <highly UN-likely in this day-and-age of identity theft and stalking> would have titles such as "Chief Surgeon," or some such.

Yes, agreed.  It isn't a label that I'd use, but I was quoting the Original Miscreant, who may very well be British.  And it's a reasonable ordinary-language term, uncapitalised; indeed, it's used on the British website to which you kindly directed me.

FIRST rule here:  Watch those scammers!  One's heart is FULL of hope, so any lead might be used against you.  You seem the right jolly sort (if I can try to be too familiar with British English when I'm certainly NOT.)  Please be just a little more suspicious.

Yes. I watch 'em.  Maybe there was a small dialectal confusion.  I may be jolly, but I'm very suspicious.  However, I'm also a trifle innocent.  Will you advise me?  If I never sent this creep any overt lead -- just answered within the CM system, with no personal data -- did I run the risk of giving [it] any kind of lead?  (I'd cheerfully fill [it] full of lead, but that's pronounced differently.)

However careful I am about English, I do have occasional problems with the Britspeak/USish divide. No doubt that's partly because I spent 30-odd years just north of the 49th Parallel, where they speak a shifting hybrid.  Many Canadians claim to insist on UK English; but I never found one who wrote car tyre.  Others vote proudly for 'pure (North) American English', but they still say back bacon when I think you'd say Canadian bacon.  Yet others maintain (yes, really) that there is no difference.

Just to complicate the issue further for me, I worked a lot as a freelance technical writer (in IT, which was just acquiring that name).  Some clients insisted on US spelling, others on British.

I'll wager dollars to doughnuts <do you say that or something more interesting?> that this person found this attempt un-fruitful and has given up on trying to make it work.  GOOD work on your part for showing them they couldn't get very far with such an approach.

Well, I say that -- although most Canadians spell it donuts.  Like so many Americanisms, it's so much more vivid than any Limey equivalent.

And yes, [it] seems to have vanished -- may indeed have read this thread!  Thanks for the compliment.

Here we have many, many coffee shops that are perfect for such meetings.  What have you?  No, not pubs.  NO alcohol, please.  As your profile says, SSC... that precludes drinking.

We too have lots of coffee shops: far too many Starbucks, half-a-dozen smaller chains, squillions of independents.

But I do often arrange to meet in a pub.
I agree, of course, about the 'no alcohol' rule before play; and have had my face slapped in a Vancouver pub for sending a girl home unchastised because she'd had a couple before I arrived (no, I wasn't late, she was early).

However, I
often schedule the meeting specifically to exclude immediate play: lunchtime from the office, maybe.  And even a pub sells juice and soft drinks -- and, surprisingly often, passable coffee.

Warm regards,

William

Nonsense! And feeling that old is not the same thing. I've had days when if I were as old as I felt I would be able to see my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandchildren's Great Grandchildren [;)] [8D]

LanceHughes -> RE: Bug reporting (6/26/2010 2:25:42 PM)

Dr. William;

My point in showing you the"friendly chap" is that there are tons of stock images on the web.

Can you / do you know how to post the pic your supposedly female correspondent offered up as the "Senior Doctor"?

There's content in the name alone that might help me find the source.  Right-Click on the pic itself, then left on PROPERTIES.

Copy out <whatevercomesjustbefore>-dot-jpg.  Cycle thru all the images sent to you.

Regards, Lance

Termyn8or -> RE: Bug reporting (6/27/2010 1:40:40 AM)

FR

I don't know how my last post here was taken but let me clarify.

If all you have to do in  life is to peruse profiles on a free kink site, reporting technical violations, you really need a life, or at least a hobby. I couldn't care less what stupid people put in their profiles. And they do Cmail me to get me to go to yahoo, and I won't do it. Case closed.

Why the fuck is this an issue with all this other shit going on in the world ?

Did my stupid ass express itself correctly this time ?

How do I post all three?

Dear Lance:

I presses OK too soon.
Still have to master the business of posting pictures.

The fact that you choose to do some particular thing, briefly, at intervals over a few days, doesn't make it 'all you have to do in life' -- unless you are a very special kind of obsessive compulsive.

As I think I've already said, I do care if some jackass puts up a profile that encourages other jackasses to break perfectly sane rules, and thus to impair a site that I happen to like.

I have met some lovely subbie ladies through this site and then Yahoo.

Case not closed.
