QSM, you've changed your argument. You stated categorically that a child being exposed to a topless woman was inappropriate. I responded saying it isn't where I grew up. Although we do require shirts at the dining room table indoors, but not the outside one.

Also most Motor Vehicles are subject to registration on Public roads only, Private roads do not hold the same laws. No drivers License is required to drive Construction equipment unless it is a Public City Street. At least in the States I am unsure of the laws regarding ATV's in Canada they may not be subject to license or registration..... Also I am wondering if it is really an ATV, it could be one of those Power Wheels. I say this because the Police have been out and done nothing about the ATV, if it were illegal for the child to operate it I think that would have been addressed.

I would go topless so my neighbors dog would stfu

I saw you mention consent earlier.  There is a double standard there as well if the woman is subjected to noise pollution.
I'm not saying I believe she was correct in doing what she did, but bringing up the whole issue of consent is off kilter.

It doesn't really matter on size, or age of the breasts. It's not illegal where she is to be topless. If someone else has an issue with it, they don't have to look.

Kind of like roadkill... you sort of know it's there, but you're not made to look directly at it.

<------wonders if going topless will stop the people 2 doors down from cranking up the Karaoke Machine at 8.30 on a Sunday Morning?

something to ponder.

I don't know, BentUnit.  Come over here to my place, I'll be happy to be a test subject on just how distracting you can be topless!

Actually that is somewhat of a point. I live in a pretty active neighborhood, people honk horns, people play outside in the street, children play, neighbors have parties and there is noise and this happens pretty normally.

I consented to moving in when I researched the neighborhood, since I have lived here there have been new neighbors and some of them have been good some bad. You confront it, or you deal with it.

Now I would like to make another point that I think has been ignored as well. The women is legally allowed to bear her breasts that has been stated, it should also be stated that the police were called on the Kid, the Noise, and the Problems between the two neighbors and NOTHING WAS DONE, this would imply that the child was not breaking any laws doing what he was doing either.

The Point of Consent is that the person bearing the breasts is doing so with the INTENT of making another person uncomfortable, where as I assume the child is doing what he is doing to have fun and BE A CHILD.

I really am surprised with how many people are okay with this.

It is really comical to see hypocracy at this level.

ALL the above, I agree with.... But this was not on a Topless Beach. It was in a Front Yard, in a Neighborhood, and it was done by design to make the grand parents of this child uncomfortable.

Apples to Oranges as you yourself have just said.

Argue the point I am making, Not that there are places where you go and should expect this to happen. My Neighbors Front yard is not one of them.

QSM

I used topless beach, cuz it is the only comparison I had, given that being topless in my yard is not legal. SO.. let's say it was legal here or I lived in Canada: I would have no problem going topless in my yard or swimming in my pool. Whether children were present or not. I just don't see it as having anything to do with kink, sexuality or anything else. Please note: if my friend was coming over and had issues with me being topless in front of their child, I would gladly respect their wishes and cover up. Having nothing to do with kink, and all to do about respecting my friends wishes. If my neighbor had serious issues with me being topless I would be happy to confine my toplessness to the backyard or pool and they could work it out from there. Besides there is always fences, the neighbors could put up a nice privacy fence.
I think what I find more interesting about this article is that the grandparents were uncomfortable with it. They live in a place where toplessness is not uncommon. They grew up there, I presume, so this can't possibly be the first bare chested female they have seen. I'm guessing here that junior was too busy tooling around in his ATV to even take notice. I could be wrong.

This in my opinion is WAY worse than a Leash or having someone crawl on the ground, but everyone is free to have thier own opinion Hypocrisy be damned.

QSM

QSM, I think they should put the kid on a leash, out of reach of the ATV. [:D]

I love peace and quiet!

You should check your understanding of this. It has ONLY been legal since 1996 before that It WAS a crime, And it is NOT common, I asked and MOST people that I talked to who were from Canada had no idea it was legal, Please do not pretend that everywhere you go you are bound to see topless people in Canada cause that just aint the case.

And I am againg not discussing it's legality, I have no problem with nudity, I have a problem with hypocracy and how this is okay with people who are so against things that in my opinion are way less than this.

Why is the fat topic even being discussed...it has nothing to do with the original post. Why not try to be helpful rather than pointing a finger and deciding who should or should not be naked.

Just saying.

Yeah, don't you fuckers turn this into a fat thread (unless you make it an entertaining one).

Now here is the funny thing, I agree with you, but the thing, if this happened in America, considering the ATV in question was something the child was legally allowed to be on, his parents right to allow him to be in the ATV is protected, however your right to peace and quiet is not.

The Point being, I would love to hear just how loud this thing really is and how long he rides it cause you know I can't think this is something that is going on for any extended period of time.

I personally think this is a Neighborhood Feud and they Bare Chested Broad is really just making more waves and the Barry's will eventually find away to top that.

It's childish and stupid is what it is. Both people are acting like idiots none of them should be praised for their behavior.

Level -> RE: Woman goes topless to quiet neighbors (6/25/2010 4:00:45 PM)

Gotta disagree on a couple of points.

I live in the country, and we have kids on 4-wheelers literally riding ALL DAY. Back and forth, back and forth. I have enough land, and live far enough from the road, where it doesn't really bother me, thankfully.

Also, it's against the law for most of these vehicles to be on a roadway. Lastly, one does have a right to peace and quiet, to a degree. Many places have noise ordinances that would cover the ATV, along with loud stereos, etc.

But, I do agree, they're all acting a bit childish. You'd think they could sit down with one another, and find a solution that both sides could agree on. Unfortunately, I've found that a large number of people want to do what they want to do, damn everyone else.

It's a non issue whether the grandparents like it or not.  There are NO laws being broken whether the intent is bad or not.
The grandparents have obviously taken no steps to compromise so their intent is clear.
The woman baring her breasts purposefully has clear intent.
Neither are right in this context and it is the child that is suffering, first from the intentional exposure to cause distress AND from the intentional lack of teaching that the grandparents do not wish to partake in.

Again, I'm not saying the woman is right in doing what she is doing - to me it is a form of child abuse.  But the grandparents, by not instilling common sense or teaching respect for people around him is also a form of abuse.  They have taught him to not respect others and yet they are now expecting others to respect him?

So yes, there is hypocrisy, but I do not see it in the same way as you.
