Let me ask rich,if you were cooking at an inter-faith gathering and someone didn`t want to eat pork b/c their Muslim faith forbade that, would you attempt to convert them to Christianity as a solution?

Considering I'm not a Christian, Basiji, why would I want to do that?

I also enjoy bringing up "Sheets" Byrd to remind Democrats of their own hypocrisy when it comes to politicizing racism.

I don't know why you have such a chip on your shoulder;

The Democratic Party was home to the KKK since the Civil War; The Republicans courted the KKK under Nixon and the Southern Strategy, and won their vote fair and square.

Accept your victory, and move on. The Democrats don't even bother making proclamations about honoring the Confederacy, like the esteemed Virginia Governor. We don't make sly references to the Great War of Yankee Aggression, like Sen, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III.

We know when we are whipped. We lost the Confederate vote, and probably won't get it back.

Owner59 -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/27/2010 9:50:28 PM)

Just remembering your We hates her too,dribblings.....and how your "victim" suggested that as a solution......

My my fuckstick,it must be quite a burden to have so many other bigots in your party...........[:D]The embarassment must be crushing, especially for someone with "values",... like yourself....[:D]

It`a usually at the bottom of their depravity that fucksticks start claiming everyone else has that same problem.Even from 50 years ago....[:D]

Just having a spot of fun, with a serious story, LadyE. [;)]

I also enjoy bringing up "Sheets" Byrd to remind Democrats of their own hypocrisy when it comes to politicizing racism. Not quite as much fun as Ted Kennedy and women's rights, or Frank/Rangel/Jefferson when it comes to corruption, but since the only member of Congress who held membership in the Klu Klux Klowns was a Democrat, it seems worth noting.

As soon as I saw the title of the thread, I knew it was a Republican trying to distract attention from the racism of his own party. That would be the party of Trent Lott, Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Jeff Sessions, and the "Southern Strategy".

You have to be really completely ignorant of American political history not to understand that the segregationist vote of the American South switched parties around the time of the Civil Rights Act. Byrd is one of the guys who did not switch, but instead grew to understand the failures of the south around race.

He had his problems, but history will forever credit him predicting the Iraq war disaster in advance and speaking out against it.

Do you happen to know any of the historical context, btw?

Didn't think so.

When the dems backed the Voting Rights Act(s),we knew we would mean the loss of votes, power and influence. But we did it and said to the bigots, don`t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.......

It took strength of character and moral fortitude to do it and follow through. And a price to pay but we payed it and would do it again.

Personally,I couldn`t support a party that stood for low class anti-intellectuals shenanigans like bigotry, the "southern strategy",etc.

Those are not the democratic party`s ~values~.Those are not my ~values~.

The repugs can and will pander to anti-intellectuals and their "values" in the same way fox panders to the lunatic fringe and their "values".

Reread it yourself, Ken. Member. Present tense.

Present tense is the form of a verb. Member is a noun. What you wrote was that the only member of Congress ever who was a member of the KKK was a Democrat. The statement was factually incorrect.

Dance with semantics to your heart's content, Ken. If I had meant "ever," I would have said "ever." Your accusation implies I'm ignorant of how many genuine scumbags have risen to federal office in our history.

It's not semantics (semantics is about the meaning of things) assuming your claim is honest, not something I'm willing to stipulate, then your failing is one of grammar.

You really are a jackass Firm.  [sm=rofl.gif]

You ask me a question and answer it yourself.

Trying as usual to let us all know how really, really intelligent you know yourself to be.

Myself, I would be surprised if you have a high school diploma.

I don`t know,is hating bigots really hate? Well technically, perhaps it is.If you`re a dumbshit.

Does hate`n the haters, qualify? Is hating one`s conduct the same as hating the person?

I know defending the bigots and haters kinda puts you with them, technically anyway....

No but lumping everyone on the right together, painting them with the same brush and hating them is.

"A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices."

And this racism in the democratic party is where?

Did you bother to read the basis of the thread, Basiji? Robert Byrd, Democrat Senator, KKK recruiter.

but but but but...he "renounced" his racism.

AQuietSimpleMan -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 7:15:46 AM)

He's Dead by the way, you all know that right?

He died.

It should also be known that for as whatever he may have been he will go down in history for ALSO being the longest lasting Senator in the History of the Unighted states.
