I`m bigoted against bigots.I`ve voted for republicans twice. But that was before the bigots took over.

There was a time when the GOP excluded them, like the John Birch Society types.

Now they`re co sponsering conventions with the John Birch Society.

Could you be any more clueless?

[:D]

Whats wrong with the JBS? You do know they have evolved quite a bit since the 60s, right?

They have?

They still think flouridation is a plot.
They still think Ike was a communist agent.
They still cling to the conspiracy theories put forward by their founder.

ORLY. Why dont you post some support for those claims. (And btw, Ralph Nader and the Sierra Club believe that fluoridation is dangerous and unnecssary)

Owner59 -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 6:19:43 PM)

But do they think it`s a commie conspiracy?

That`s the whack job part.

They also want to rehab douchebag McCarthy into an American hero.

Any mainstream liberal groups in support of that?[:D]

I`m completely ok with republicans palling around with the lunatic fringe, bigots and other assorted assholes. That`s what the GOP is for after all.

The open ,public associations just make it easier for us to make those connections and harder for cons to deny them.

Check it out,...Firm projecting.....so cute when he does that.[:D]

Find two good things to say about Republicans, Owner.

What, like the way you spend so much of your time bigging up Democrats?

You obviously are talking about your perception, and not facts.  If you actually read my posting history, you'd see little (if any) direct attacks on Democrats, simply because they are Democrats.

Gotta come to Firm`s defense on that point.

Though a partisan,he`s no Owner59.[:D]

He`s one of the last few of the loyal opposition. He`s no righty nut, like rich ,wilbur or sanity....

Firm`s actually a nice guy.[:D]

He started out as a Klansman but ended up with 100% rating with civil rights groups - now your bias is clear.

Sen. Robert Byrd hospitalized in serious condition

I'm not wishing him any personal ill, mind you, but I am going to hope this is the end this sheet-wearer's political career. Of course, at 92, maybe it's time for him to allow those medical resources to be used by someone younger, with a better long-term prognosis. [8|]

DarwinsLilHelper -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 8:32:10 PM)

Oh no...The funniest part of Byrd's political farce of a life is...He always said he joined the Klan because he believed they were an Anti-COMMUNIST organization...Yet the last thing he saw on this earth...Was himself serving a COMMUNIST master.

You can't find a more ironic end to ones life outside of Greek Tragedies.

Owner59 -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 8:44:21 PM)

The klan did think that.Still do.

They called anyone they didn`t like a commie,or fascist or nazi, etc, interchangeably.

Geeeeee,I wonder where we`ve heard that line recently.[:D]

Could there be a connection?

Funny how these KKK threads somehow make repubs flummoxed and defensive.[:D]

There`s no doubt the GOP has a problem with non-whites.In their actions, rhetoric and in their history. To say this is their "inconvenient truth", is like saying Sen. Byrd had a bad week.[:D]

TheHeretic -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 8:46:51 PM)

Amazing. You'll suck a KlanKlown's dick if it serves your talking point of the day.

LOL!

Owner59 -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 8:55:23 PM)

I don`t believe pointing out Byrd`s rehabilitation is what`s got you miffed.

It`s jealousy, that your party is so full of bigots ,women haters and homophobes.

Hey rich,it`s your party, cry if you want to.[:D]

As was pointed out, your OP is Freudian.

No, you can take that as a go fuck yourself.

I'm not taking the bait for your usual games.

If you have a specific point to make then make it and I'll respond.

My point is that you have less than a layman's understanding of history, and see everything through the prism of your own, current ideological blinders.

You hear "KKK" and think of Grand Wizard Bubba Joe with his pickup truck, having a cross outside his trailer.

You have no clue about the differences between that stereotype that you hold in your mind, and what the "KKK" was in the earlier part of the last century.

That's my point:  You are ignorant.  And, as a corollary, you are an ideologue.  Therefore everything you say and post is suspect, and slanted.

Sorry Firm,I'm going to have to ask if you would be so kind as to point out to me (just a guy with a "layman's understanding of history"...and his very own prism).....What exactly was ever warm and fuzzy about the KKK ?
What lofty goals and ambitions did they ever hope to achieve?

Brain -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 10:28:03 PM)

Yeah right, Obama is a “communist” who gets elected and helps fat cat bankers.

Owner59 -> RE: KKK Senator hospitalized in serious condition (6/28/2010 11:49:27 PM)

No no no,Obama was oppressing those poor bankers/GOP-funders, by giving them billions and billions of taxpayer dollars.[:D]

I wish Obama or anyone for that matter, would oppress me with scads of loot.[:D]

I never said anything "warm and fuzzy" about the KKK.

But the fact is, that the 2nd KKK was in many places a "progressive" organization, and in the first half of the last century, was seen by many in a much different light. There was obvious elements of racism in some places, but a significant percentage of the population in both the US and Canada were members, and not everyone who joined was a racist.

As the darker side of the KKK came to the fore, most people who were members deserted it.

As juliaoceania has said in the other Byrd thread:

Byrd grew up in the South of 80 years ago. The KKK was the same as joining the Lions Club is in the North. Byrd grew up in a South that was not that far from the aftermath of the Civil War.....

And she is exactly correct, except it wasn't just the South where this was true.

And Byrd wasn't the only one who did what he did.  Yet rulemylife will condemn any Republican, and forgive any Democrat in the same situation, under the same standards.

That makes him an ideologue, and an person ignorant of history.

Which is what I said, not something "warm and fuzzy" about the KKK.
