LOL

So much for atheism not being a religion

What do you find on that site that is the least bit religious?

Like, for example, not starting a thread called "Why are so many non-Believers so narrow minded?"

[:D]I 100% TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT![:D] That's exactly why I spoke in defense of non-beleivers in my first two posts.

Yeah, but just don't be behind a car that has that bumper sticker: "In case of rapture, this car will be driverless."

The interesting thing about that one is the number of baptistsfundamentalist Christians who are keen to see the battle of Armageddon start, but are planning to fuck off upwards the second it begins. Isn't that draft dodging?

No, that is planning ahead.

Intolerance breeds injustice and injustice breeds more intolerance. That's why the Salem Witch Trials and other such occurrences took place.

I'm not disagreeing with the idea that a certain amount of tolerance is beneficial to our society but I thought the Salem Witch Trials occurred because people thought spectral evidence was valid.

[sm=rofl.gif] That's hilarious thank you for posting this, Reverend here I come. Wait a second I wonder if I can become an ordained pastafarian minister, that would be even funnier.

That's not a new idea, I suspect that Thomas Jefferson was a Christian Atheist.

I have always suspected the same thing. (but referred to him as a Christian-humanist). I have a copy of the Jefferson Bible on my shelf. I like his because he leaves out all of the supernatural aspects of Jesus and sticks to his moral teachings. His Bible is similar in that manner to Leo Tolstoy's Gospel in Brief.  They are both very good books for those who want the core teachings of Jesus minus the miracles.

The validity of this statement seems unlikely; do you have any evidence that this is the case?

Have you ever noticed that people who classify themselves as "Believers" have never read the Upanishads, the tao te ching, the Koran, the Book of Mormon, a scholarly translation of the Hebrew Bible (as opposed to the version translated, with editing, by King James' propagandist lackeys), a scholarly translation lf the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and other religions' writings?

Actually, I have met theists that are well versed not only in their own religion but in others as well.

Now we know at least one non-Believer is narrow minded though! This thread has accomplished something!

This is interesting.

I knew the philosophers Hegel and Nietzsche redid the gospels this way.

Identifying Jesus as a great philosopher ... like Socrates ... not anything else ...

I had no idea, Jefferson did it too!

Thanks for sharing this!

Again, I get angry after making logical, appropriate comments that are answered illogically, or worse answered "Tsk, tsk," as if I'm being pushed aside as a child would be.

Tsk, tsk. lol.

Please lighten up, LH. If you try to walk on water without a sense of humor, you won't keep dry for more than a short moment.

What did I miss? On one accord? Oh yes, that's right I recall now Marini.

I was meditating with my focus on the lotus petal pond & its calming waters. Imagine that. Just another one of those open minded Spiritually focused believers. [;)] [winks at Marini]

I would appreciate it if you would not attribute things to me that I did not state. That statment was made by MikeyofGeorgia in post #106.  I really hope that was just a mistake.
