Status: offline 		Algebra was invented by Arabs, during the middle ages.  This diabolical thought process has now spread across the world and is being used to inculcate our children with Islamic thought processes.  We must cease the teaching and practice of this particularly diabolical form of mathematics before we fall any further into the clutches of our Islamic masters to be.

This would be sort of funny if it wasnt for the first treatise considered to be Algebra being written by Diophantus, a Greek living in Egypt nearly 500 years before al-Khwarizmi's writings.

Present day Iraq, yes indeed. Babylon was a city State of Mesoptamia. They were using Algebra some 1500 BC. This was somewhere around the time Willbur started posting B/s on the internet.

the Babylonians and Egyptians, roughly contemporaneously, informally solved what could be considered algebraic equations, but without the use of symbols and without the ability to handle fractions (in the Egyptians case) and negative numbers (in both cases), all of which are considered essential to algebra.
