in my mind as a sub i should be allowed to have my own opinions and such as long as the final dicission is my Masters it's normally no problem. on things like pearl harbor yes i think you'd have a right to point it out. just remember if you do so have reason to do so logical actual reason not just because you want to. take it from me not having a reason means consiquences most of the time. good luck.

I think a sub should be able to voice an opinion, but like others have said, in a respectful and polite manner. However, I think if the sub is just looking to be right, or make a fool of the Dom, or feel, and this sounds silly even to me, superior..... then said sub should expect to be punished. Or relased, if it's an ongoing problem.

Shouldn't the sub expressing that opinion, or correction to the Dom/me, then expect a repercussion to that expression? Be it nice, or punishment of some kind? But I guess I think that it goes back to the motives of the sub.

If my opinions/insights can't be valued as a submissive, i really have no interest in being submissive to a Dominant in a relationship. One person may be the absolute authority in the relationship and have the final say on things, but that's not to say they're perfect or always right. Both parties should be willing to listen, admit mistakes and seek corrections if they're wrong.

Bravo! I don't think a Dom/me knows everything or even should know everything. But spouting off random and silly nonsense is just crazy! How could one respect someone so horribly and stupidly wrong?

I value a submissive with a mind of his or her own. I wouldn't get involved with one who had different politics or religious beliefs than mine but I don't expect my submissive to ask to do everything and anything in his or her life.

And if a submissive saw a Dominant doing something terribly unsafe it is up to the submissive to step back and inform the Dominant that he or she is not looking out for the submissive's mental, physical or emotional well-being.

Dominants should care for their submissives - but as much as we'd like to we can't read minds.

I hope not all subs feel this way, because while I am relatively smart, I'm missing plenty of information, and I'd prefer a sub who is informed and can share information with me, in a respectful and kind fashion, because in my opinion, that's what makes a decent human being. I will say that I won't get along with a sub, who simply because he knows some info that I may not, behaves in a sarcastic/unkind/disrespectful way, and I defintely will not deal with one who Needs to be right all of the time (which will mean, he doesn't trust I only speak when I know what the hell I'm talking about, or will state as my opinion, with which he may disagree). JMO, M

I didn't say I was uninformed or incapable of sharing information. As matter of fact, in the second part of my post I said that I thought it would be silly to withold necessary info.

I am actually on the sub/slave needs to have a mind side of the discussion, as is my Master. The fact that he is smarter, doesn't diminish my intelligence at all. I do consider that inequality to be a necessary part of our dynamic, however.

While i consider myself an online submissive at present (with hopes of r/l, but that's a different topic altogether), i certainly have opinions and while i have been brought up with the old adage 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all', i tend to voice them, although i try to be at least semi tactful about it. Anyone who wanted me as a sub would have to deal with that as i'm not a doormat and never intend to be one. Being submissive is one thing, having no opinion on anything is another.

Dear Ophelia,
I apologize if you understood that I called you uninformed...
My statement was more as a response to your statement that your master needs to be smarter, and certainly not saying that yours is wrong/inappropriate. I meant that "I" wouldn't mind at all a sub/slave who had a higher degree than I (which in SOME ways would make him smarter than I, the Domme), as long as he was a decent human being along with his degrees. M

No need to apologize :) I just wanted to make my position clear, as I felt that you might have misunderstood my original post. I think we are on the same side of this dicussion. Just possibly interested in a slightly different dynamic in our relationships.

That is so right on. A sub/slave is valuable for being who and what they are, and the MORE they bring with them to put on the table, the better and the deeper and the more powerful the relationship between the two becomes.
