haha ok you just keep telling yourself that your singular version of reality works.....

god I love walking stereotypes!

xxblushesxx -> RE: Dommes Posting in "Ask A Master" (7/13/2010 10:59:35 AM)

Yourscum, what exactly is your point here?
A woman can't be a master? It's been proven she can.
Women shouldn't post here? The mods say it's perfectly fine.
What exactly are you trying to prove?

Using logic and reason is a stereotype now is it?

I never said they can't post here, clearly they can. I certainly never said a woman can't be in charge or a dominant. I'm just saying by traditional definition, a man in a master, a woman a mistress, just as for example a female who serves food in a restaurant is a waitress, a man a waiter, although now 'Server' seems to be taking over as the common expression, a genderless alternative to the gendered words.

If I could speak my own wittle female mind here I would venture to answer that with "That he's a dumbass!" (channeling Walter even...) but all things considered, that is just a hypothetical kinda deal.....[:D]

laurell3 -> RE: Dommes Posting in "Ask A Master" (7/13/2010 11:06:09 AM)

Hypothetically speaking I believe you are often right LaT and I have found no recent instances to suggest that is not true.

Oh yeah, someone has a different opinion than yours, that they support with logic and reason, without resorting to childish cursing, so they must be a dumbass. I suppose I should be like you and throw in some cursing, perhaps I should end this by calling you a dumb cunt or something? I'm sure that would make you respect me more, since you clearly feel that that adds weight to your responses.

Direct quote from "Protocol Handbook for the Leather Slave:  Theory and Practice", by Robert J. Rubel, PhD, page 22:

Distinction between Master as an adjective and Master as a noun.

Master (adj): a Leatherman who has earned such respect  within the Community that other senior Leathermen refer to this person as a Master (regardless of gender).  This respect is generally  granted after years of selfless contribution to the Leather Community as a whole.  This is an earned title that is usually granted in a public ceremony.

Master (n):  Man or woman who seeks to exert total control over another.

As I said earlier in the thread, I qualify.

That's great, and if this were a LEATHER site, that might matter.

The site is made up of members, some of whom belong to the Leather community.

We have Goreans here and people who maintain Victorian households.

There are many highly respected "Leather" members here.

This thread isn't so much about semantics but about labels and the limitations they contain.

Wisdom is often mocked.

Don't kow tow dude. Do not be beaten down!

You don't have to take that shit from a girl!

You are trying to use a traditional definition to an alternative lifestyle.

Since you are in CA, are you willing to walk into the next MAsT meeting closest to you to tell the Masters there that happen to be female that they are not Masters due to their gender?  Are you willing to do the same for those who identify as slaves that they can not use the term because slavery has been abolished?

Whether this is a leather site or not, it absolutely is a site regarding BDSM, and leather people are absolutely part of the community.

Yet you are generalizing a LEATHER based definition to the rest of the world, and to bdsm in general. I know you think highly of leather what not, but it's not the be all and end all of everything, and I'd say there is far more non-leather bdsm related things than there are leather based ones.

And does this 'high respect' means the leather members definitions over ride all others? I should think not.

Also perhaps you can answer what the others ignored. If there is no distinction between gender for the title of master, why is there one for the title of mistress? Just blatant sexism?

Hate to implode your weltanschuung, but I am a Mistress, ask any Mistress you care to, or slave or submissive or man or woman or transgender on this site, you will find almost universal agreement that this is so.

The slavery angle is irrelevant and silly, but tell you what find the closes MAsT meeting (whatever that is) in my area, let me know where it is, and yes, I'll agrue that in person, and let you know how it turns out.

Also, I will say I attend a munch fairly regularly here, I know, it's just a munch, but I have never, not once, heard a female dominant refer to herself as a master in real life.

mnottertail -> RE: Dommes Posting in "Ask A Master" (7/13/2010 11:22:04 AM)

MasterFireMaaM  is real life, I know, so it just may be that you haven't run across it yet is all.

That could be, although since your using an online name for this individual that's not real life.

No, the respect part is actually a personal commentary regarding the fact that they have respect because they earned it.

However, since you had difficulty with my polite attempt to convey that point, let me be clear about this one: it is very rude to come in and create a disruption for apparently no other purpose than to argue for the sake of arguing.

Very few people besides you, who are active posters have any issue with the use of Master as a gender neutral term.

And that does override you.
