I would like the option to be the sole provider.  If I choose one day to allow the schools to do it, it's my choice.  I should have the option to do so.

You do have the option.

My question is why you would only exercise that option when it comes to sexual matters?

Because I don't believe it to be the government's place to educate my child on sexual matters.

Which only restates what I asked without answering why.

Domiguy, you should really apply for a job in the diplomatic corp of some country I don't like very much. ;)

Preferably not one that has nuclear weapons, please.

I said ah heck babe, that doesn't make her a bad person, and besides she is funny as heck and dances well.  The look in her face was one of confusion, and I expected to have her mom come get on to me later.  Mom didn't, and if she had I don't know what I would have said.

"Sit in that chair and  close your eyes while I put a bullet into your bigoted brain" is the first thing that comes to mind. But that's just me.

Our age play dynamic, of our relationship, doesn't have any bearing on what my future children will call having to go pee. It's not irony, to me. Ones a relationship dynamic, and the other is not wishing future children of mine to call peeing tinkling.

You are free to call your man what you like....but referring to him as "daddy" in a post in which you bemoan the substituting of "tinkle" for "pee" seems beyond ironic...just saying.

Got me on that one lol.

If I ever have children I want to teach them the correct word for the correct part, and correct word for the correct function, like I don't want someone teaching them cutesie words for bowel functions, I don't want them , when they have to go pee, being told to call it " I have to tinkle" "or wee wee" or " boom boom" for pooping.

Just informationally -- the correct terms for this are "urinate" and "defaecate" (which may equally be technically substituted with "have a bowel movement", which is what medical facilities often use).

Pee and poop are also euphamisms, just like "tinkle" and "BM" (which are what I grew up with), "wee wee" and "boom boom", or #1 and #2.

Yeah, knowing correct terms, and having a sex ed, didn't stop my being molested earlier, or make me any better able to report the molesters to the authorities.

One of my earlier posts points that out.
quote:

All of that said, I am not sure if education would have given me the strenght to report it when I started getting molested.  In my case, it was a close family member, and I believed him when he told me the bad things that would happen if I told.  I am not sure having been taught differently at school would have changed that....

After reading the pdf file that my self and someone else linked earlier, I do support what this school district is trying to do though.  It is basic stuff, and doesn't seem to want to teach morals, just the facts so to say.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Obama supports sex ed for kindergartners........wtf? (7/15/2010 7:55:18 PM)

There was a really funny episode of Desperate house wives, and the little boy had been telling little girls if you lift your dress and show me what's under your panties I will give you a cookie, and then he asked his mom where do babies come from?

She told him they come from a seed, and then from then on the little boy told women he'd give them an ice cream pop if they'd let him plant a seed in their vagina and see if a baby grew lol.

quote:

ORIGINAL: chrismanch

Sex education for children is not about telling them how to have sex, its about telling them things that are appropriate for their age and level of understanding.

When a young child asks where babies come from, and they are told that they are brought by storks or "the fairies" or other lies, it just confuses the children, they know its not true, and may go and experiment, or hear wild rumors.

Oh for heavens sake ...I was just kidding...I don't give a fuck if you dress in a catholic school uniform and tie your hair in pony tails while crying out "spank me daddy, spank me".
If it floats your boat..... then happy sailing to the two of you.

I taught my son the proper names for body parts when he was learning to speak.... this means he knew his penis was a "penis"when he was being potty trained. If people have an issue with kids learning about what parts of their anatomy are called, they really need to check themselves into the Repression Police and have their issues dealt with by a Freudian shrink... seriously

Balderdash.  I will never agree that any verbal teachings can help a child that young avoid being molested, nor even help them feel free enough to speak up if it does happen.

My mother taught me that no one should touch me in my "private areas" ever.... not a family member, no one... ever...

So when a much older male family member attempted to do so in the car when I was 11 I was empowered to tell him "no"

Sooooo... i guess your absolutes are incorrect... the thing about absolutes.... they usually are.

Why do you assume I'll be puritanical?  Because I don't want someone else teaching my children about sexual education, so I just HAVE to be puritanical?  OH WOW.

If I were a good parent, I'd opt out and teach my child how I feel they need to be taught sexual education.  I'd also supplement everything being taught as far as grammar, history, etc.

Not puritanical, but I wonder why teaching kids about sexual functioning brings out such a response? Seriously, to me teaching the birds and the bees is no different than teaching kids how we take a dump... it is just biology.... ooops., I forgot, in Texas they don't like things like "biology" with its radical " "evolutionists"[8|]

At least they have the good taste to have the JGB open for them on a couple of dates.

Maybe if you'd read the entire thread, you'd see that I stray very far off from the beliefs of your typical Texan.  I'm Pagan, I at least have a belief in evolution, before I decided to do culinary, my major was biology education.  Wow.  Your assumptions are just so damned amusing.  It's kind of ridiculous.

It's the fact that someone else aside from me is teaching my child about sexual education.  I would like to have the OPTION to opt out. That's all I expect.  That's what parents should have.  It's no different, in my mind, than having the right/choice to abort a fetus.  You may not even opt out, but you want to have the chance to do so.
Maybe there are parents out there who are irresponsible and won't educate their children, but I won't be one of them.

There aren't wings at a chili cook-off.  There's chili.  They're one of the sponsors?

Ah so, it is your discomfort that would bother you, not necessarily your child's. Very revealing I think. [8|]

How typical of you. Perhaps HIS discomfort is over the development of HIS CHILD which is his responsibility, who doesnt have a clue what to be uncomfortable about.
