My yoot was spent blissfully unaware of sex or the sexual nature of body parts............until I was molested by a trusted, older, family member. Even then I was so uneducated I didn't know what was done to me. I only knew I didn't like it.

no, strawman, she dont. you see, children are born with peckers and gashes, and many is the occasion that i've seen little boys running around parading thier hardons sans cloth, and girls digging a long time in their diapers. You aint born with a steering wheel up your ass. course I believe in some fundamental sex education (fundamental) and appropriate and inappropriate touching stuff. i also believe that you shouldnt be telling kids fairy tales: jesus, and santa, and easterrabbit and whatnot, (they enjoy getting presents and finding eggs without it) so that they know you wont lie to them, and what a lie is, and wont believe anyone elses fairy tales

Why does learning about homosexuality have to be an issue? My four year old sister knows that her uncle Kevin and uncle Graham love each other. She doesn't necessarily know the word "gay" or anything about gay sex, but she's aware that it's possible and acceptable for two men to have a relationship like mummy and daddy. What's wrong with learning about tolerance and acceptance? The comments of the mother make it sound like they're going to be giving children practical demonstrations. I honestly doubt it's going to be anything more than the ins and outs (no pun intended) of sex, not teaching seven year olds how to give a great blow job.

Why not learn how two adults fall in love and recreate at a young age? There's no need to go into any graphic detail with four years olds of course, but at least let them understand how love works and how even same sex couples can still love each other just as much. All the comments against children learning about homosexuality is typical American ignorance, "herp derp bible says no fags freedom freedom blah blah". I'm actually sick and tired of people that act like this. Grow up, it's not the 60's anymore.

OP and those who don't think this is a good idea: Are the rest of you people missing this part? The point isn't that there's more sexual predators of kids, it's that we know about it. And as adults it's OUR FUCKING JOB to make sure that kids know what's right and wrong and that it's ok to tell us when someone is doing something wrong to them. I really think teaching kids about their parts and what a no no touch is, should be up to the parents, but I know quite well not all parents are responsible about teaching that kind of stuff, or accurate in what they teach.

There is a lot of things parents should do, that they don't. Neglecting to do many of those 'shoulds' can get the children removed from the parents. Unfortunately in our puritanical society we prefer to stick our proverbial heads in the sand and pretend the a lot of the 'unspeakable bad stuff' just won't happen to OUR precious little angels, rather than face it head on and do everything possible to protect through education.

BoiJen, I'm not disagreeing with THAT at all. What I disagree with it being taught in the kindergarten classroom. Parent's responsibility and all that sort of rubbish.
