When I was fifth grade, they segregated both the boys and the girls and they gave us the whole shabang. This was in Texas. They told us what was happening to our bodies, what our parts were called in sterile, scientific words, explained reproduction in pretty decent detail, and sent us home with pads. My niece grew up around homosexuals. She understands what they are and at eleven, knows that calling "Aunt Roxanne" is acceptable. Unfortunately, I think that until parents are more open and honest with their children, people are going to push these programs further and further. I do not think the government should be raising our children and I would opt my child out of that education because I would want to educate them my own way. She may not be my child, but I helped raise my niece, we educated her at an early age that only Mommy, Grandma and Aunt Melly were allowed to touch her in any way below the belt. Even my father, who has been an integral part of her life(even stepped in when the asshole who was with my sister at the time bailed on numerous occasions, and played the male figure) does not see her naked or go near her when she's taking a shower or bath. I don't want some crazy wacko going in to teach my children or my niece about sexual education. It just so happens that most of America is uncomfortable talking about being on your period or anything like that. I still think that if a parent wants to opt out of this education and educate their own children, they should have the option. From what I've read/seen, they plan on really not telling the parents or giving them a choice. They are OUR children. Parents should have a say.
