As part of an exercise in MP school, we were told that if we put our partner down (we were doing a hold that put pressure on the carotid) we would get the rest of the hour off. I gave my partner a nice nap. There is apparently, at least with this hold, a looooong time between unconciousness and death. I've been in fights that involved a lot of adrenaline and emotion, situations that could have been seen, and probably were seen, by both parties, as life-threatening. I never lost control to the point of killing my assailant/arrestee. Two minutes or more of strangulation after unconciousness? What do I think? I think this was murder.
