This isn't "reverse racism" rml. Thats another subject entirely, what this woman is doing is called overt racism.

Then define the difference for me.

In other words, you can't defend your position.

The teaparty movement was started to protest big government and out out of control taxes and spending. It has nothing to do with race.

The teabagger movement was started by lobbyists for the health care industry to dupe gullible people like you into opposing health care reform.

Can you say Dick Armey?

Obummer's DoJ just proved that you and your ilk are the gullible people who were duped into supporting health care reform.

Can you say tax?

E

Well she certainly assumed he was racist, but she never gave a good reason why she felt that way. She also admitted that she helped, but could have done more and would have had he been black. Sorry, but she sounds racist. That said, it doesn't prove anything about the NAACP except that one of their members is racist. Maybe they should look at their own members before they start going after other groups.

No.

I can't even say Obummer without wondering about your IQ.

When did this whole reverse racism outrage start?

Was it somewhere about the time we elected a black President?

You have never heard the term reverse racism before Obama. Seriously? You really believe this is something they just made up in the last year?

Archer -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 6:05:40 AM)

There is no reverse racism, it's either racism or it's not racism, which race / races are involved don't matter to the definition at all.

Racisim is the belief that one race is superior to another race.

In this case the woman "heard" an attitude of superiority coming from the farmer, she then acted to prove who was superior in her mind.

Was the farmer racist? WE DONT KNOW.  We have her opinion that he was trying to sound superior, and it is entirely possible that she was correct; it is also entirely possible that she heard what she expected to hear.

rulemylife

Dick Armey, Really you;re going to credit Dick with starting the Tea Party? That's so buying into a bullshit revisionist history that it makes you look as dumb as some of those signs at the Tea Party Rallies.

Dick Armey started up one of the very late starting splinter groups of the Tea Party.
The protests without a name started right after TARP (under Bush) and then after the Porkulous Bill started, the movement got a name based on the protest method that a woman in Seatle, Washington (that hotbed of racial hatered LOL) started to propose in mid February of 2009.

Dick Armey came late to the party (Around September 2009 ) and has tried to harness it for other purposes, with some small success.
But to say Dick Armey started the movement is revisionist history at its worst.

I will cop to the fact that many black folks hate white folks. I would argue with good reason but I will even let that go.

To say there is little or no evidence of racism in the Tea Party is retarded. Even for you.

I would argue with good reason how long are blacks going to have a racist chip on their shoulders? I will even let go that fact that conservatives, not liberals, freed blacks from slavery in this country.

To imply there is similar (video) evidence of racisim in the Tea Party, without posting one/more links to thereto, is moronic. But that's typical for you.

Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 6:22:56 AM)

The question I have is, why was she bragging about this in front of an audience at an NAACP event, and is this commonplace at NAACP meetings?

The term is reverse discrimination. There is no such thing as reverse racism, it is either racism or it isn't.

That'll be $675.00 please.

Greetings all....

I am wondering why this story seems to be ignored by both sides.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100719/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_biden_tea_party

According to the Vice President, the Tea Party is not a racist organization. He says the President also thinks that it is not racist.

Be well all....

Actually I have heard it used both ways. And I agree that racism is racism no matter how you try to justify it. I was just pointing out that it wasn't a new term created just to hate on Obama.

I think it's pretty shitty that the woman assumed that he was trying to be "superior" to her while he was asking for help. Not knowing the conversation, maybe he was trying to plead his case and explain his business plan and she took it as him trying to "be superior".

I've seen this on both sides of the racial coin. Person A assumes person B is racially motivated because Person A is racially motivated.

If she didn't do all she could do for the man because she assumed he was racist, then her own racism is showing it's ugly head and it's a shitty fuckin attitude.

All of this is of course hearsay because none of us were actually present during the conversation.

Yea, I pointed that out in another thread. It doesn't follow with their "everyone must hate the teaparty" platform, so I guess they are ignoring it.

Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 6:39:09 AM)

In all fairness, from MSNBC:

quote:

The NAACP, which recently condemned racism in tea party groups , also issued a statement Monday night saying: "Racism is about the abuse of power. Sherrod had it in her position at USDA. According to her remarks, she mistreated a white farmer in need of assistance because of his race."

It goes on to say that her resignation has been accepted by the head of the USDA.

BoiJen -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 6:41:47 AM)

Statement made. The NAACP does not support racism.

From the MSNBC article:

In his statement, NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous said the organization was "appalled by her actions, just as we are with abuses of power against farmers of color and female farmers."

"Her actions were shameful. While she went on to explain in the story that she ultimately realized her mistake, as well as the common predicament of working people of all races, she gave no indication she had attempted to right the wrong she had done to this man," he said.

"The reaction from many in the audience is disturbing. We will be looking into the behavior of NAACP representatives at this local event and take any appropriate action," Jealous said.

Its smart of them to get out in front of this and denounce her, at least.

domiguy -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 6:45:40 AM)

Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign from the USDA. The NAACP applauded the decision saying, they do not accept racism at any level.

Racist people like Shirley Sherrod and RacistJim can be found everywhere.

It can not be tolerated when your racist beliefs cloud your judgment to the point that having power over another means that you will not allow them to advance or to receive the benefits that they are entitled too.

It is great that actions were taken in this case. Just like Teabaggers booted a racist element within their midst.
