Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 2:56:51 PM)

The first link was to a CBS article on it, and Politico and FOX NEWS and several other media outlets are reporting the same story. And if theres nothing to the story she would never have resigned from her cushy federal job immediately after the story went viral, would she.

Lucylastic -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 3:28:31 PM)

hm I said I didnt bother looking at the video... not wether the story had some truth to it

I trust breitbart as much as I trust you to give the truth.
It seems in both instances, truth becomes the first victim

I will cop to the fact that many black folks hate white folks. I would argue with good reason but I will even let that go.

To say there is little or no evidence of racism in the Tea Party is retarded. Even for you.

I would argue with good reason how long are blacks going to have a racist chip on their shoulders? I will even let go that fact that conservatives, not liberals, freed blacks from slavery in this country.

To imply there is similar (video) evidence of racisim in the Tea Party, without posting one/more links to thereto, is moronic. But that's typical for you.
Please explain that nonsense about conservatives freeing blacks from slavery thing
This should be good.

I too would be interested in racist jim's attempt to wiggle out of that bag of shit he just posted.

Doesn't matter who picked up the lie, it was started by Andrew Breitbart. After he posted it the right wing echo chamber got it and away it went. That anybody was so damned stupid as to fall for it is shocking. That you keep pushing it after its been shown to be a lie is to be expected.

Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 3:49:30 PM)

Its video ken, how has it been shown to be a lie. This was in March - shes shown openly bragging about it at the NAACP meeting and everyone in the video is sitting on their hands, listening respectfully. This isn't the tune you would be singing if these people had been Tea Party people, you take that to the bank.

What do you know about the truth. Truth to you is like sunlight to a vampire...

As I pointed out before the video is edited so you don't know she is talking about events from 24 years ago. When she worked for a private non profit not the USDA (note how she mentions that the farmer was sent to her by the USDA odd if she was an USDA employee at the time). She goes on to say how she overcame her racist attitudes, became friends with the farmer and did help him save his farm. The farmer and his wife verify the details as well.

Breitbart deceptively edited the video to make it look like she was bragging about being a racist when she was actually telling a story about how she overcame her racist feelings and became a better person.

tazzygirl -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 4:17:47 PM)

Have they released the full video?

Owner59 -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 4:22:29 PM)

This certainly re-enforces the perception that cons have problems with blacks. Not sure how this helps conservatives.

They might be high-5ing over at breitbrat tonight but this isn`t going to get the RNC any more votes. If anything,it`ll alienate more people of every stripe from viewing republicans positively.

If the new strategy is cons doing battle with America`s premiere civil rights org...............lol.............have at it.[:D]

Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 4:22:40 PM)

That link doesn't prove anything ken, thats just a link to left wing CNN (which is at the bottom of the ratings race due to its lack of credibility) giving the NAACP spin and Shirley Sherrods spin on it.

No video evidence, no documents, no facts - just spin.

Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 4:26:15 PM)

No, seems like they would have, too.

It`ll get sorted out angry-pants and you`ll have egg on your face once again.

I heard the wife of the farmer thanking the woman for saving their farm.......

Spin?

Sanity -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 4:29:15 PM)

Why did she resign?

Maybe Sanity will now attempt to call the Atlanta Journal Constitution a biased source as well

Lucylastic -> RE: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event (7/20/2010 4:34:13 PM)

I do agree that she was treated unfairly, that the edited video was a rush to judgement on behalf of everyone.

Having said that...

quote:

Jealous asked the USDA to reconsider Sherrod's dismissal but, in a statement, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack stood by his decision.

"First, for the past 18 months, we have been working to turn the page on the sordid civil rights record at USDA and this controversy could make it more difficult to move forward on correcting injustices," Vilsack said. "Second, state rural development directors make many decisions and are often called to use their discretion. The controversy surrounding her comments would create situations where her decisions, rightly or wrongly, would be called into question making it difficult for her to bring jobs to Georgia."

The USDA has a strong point.
