May I point out, after a quick look at quotes for myself, male non-smoker starts at 134.00 a month, and that is with a $10,000 deductible. I cant afford 10 grand in medical bills before coverage starts.

As noted in the other post, I thought she was much younger. My oldest son's policy is <100 a month with dental, 40% co-pays and $2000 out of pocket maximum.

You want to be ugly to me, have at it, I will reiterate. I have the right to vote anyway I like for any reason I want.... you don't like that, who cares, I don't

The title on this thread is Obama is losing support amongst independents and white people, I am an independent white person who he is losing support from. I wanted to vote Green last election and voted Obama instead. Now you may not like that, you may want to get personal and attack me because of that, but it isn't changing the fact that independents are starting to reconsider Obama.

There are many who lack health insurance that are not happy with the compromise from the congress and the white house, I am not the only one... why not jump up and down on the rest of us that do not have work, etc, and cannot afford healthcare insurance

And psssttttt.... believe it or not, I have to have an internet connection because of school, and guess what? It is free through the college....

edited to add.... I like Obama. I want him to do well. I wish I could feel differently about all the things that are making me consider voting Green next election... just he hasn't done those things yet. Perhaps he will return to being liberal, which is why he won, we thought he was a liberal, we were voting for a liberal... we wanted CHANGE.... he needs to start providing that

Status: offline 		Funny. I was one of those "millions without health insurance," and it lasted about six months, when I changed jobs. Just because I was a shared statistic doesn't mean anybody else gets to speak for how I felt about it.

Funnier thing. When I changed careers, I took a pay cut for an entry level job. I hoped there was enough reserve in my bank to make it work, and there was. Just. I hit an overdraft buying gas three days before I saw the raise from a promotion. Under the new law, I have to wonder if I would have been able to take the step to better myself. Crushing individual initiative under the bootheel of taxes and bureaucracy... Change we can believe in, huh?

Lots of other people vote based on a bill of goods, without an ounce of good faith behind the lie they believe in. People who actually thought the Dems would end the war in Iraq back in '06, for example. Or took the leap of faith to vote for the guy who got the big job.

I vote based upon what I believe is right...

Which is why I will probably vote Green next time. Now you can make that about "selfish interests" and I suppose if Greens had a chance, that might fit... but since the Greens aren't winning, you really can't paint my voting decision based upon selfishness.

What is so wrong about an informed voter allowing their self interests to guide them in the voting booth.Surely what is serves the interest of individual Americans is good for America.To my mind the only problem is when those "selfish" self interests are ill informed.....I have absolutely no problem with  informed voters casting their votes based on their self interests.In the larger picture what is good for my neighbor.....is good for me and America to boot.

This is the argument you would expect from a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" individualistic American. I find it rather funny that Rich doesn't agree with it....

Well fuck Rich...I make sure I am as informed as I can possibly be....I sort of got the impression you did too(being "informed" doesn't mean we reach the same conclusions)...was I mistaken in that assumption.
